986 Endurance Racer Build

Up-date on my P0336 code.
This has been a very frustrating season because of this issue I missed Thompson and Mid-Ohio.
This is a 3 chain 2003 2.7L engine.
I have verified the mechanical timing with the cam timing tool - The cams and crank are properly in sync.
The crank sensor is good. And a second sensor was tried and tested.
The wiring harness from sensor to DME is good
I can see engine RPM on the scan tool
per Porsche diagnostics.
The DME (ECM) is bad.
Does anyone have a DME for a 2003 manual trans Boxster I could try to test?
Or a good source for the DME to purchase used?

Remember you will need a DME/Immobilizer and Key Pill that all match to "swap".
When I was debugging my electrical issue -- I ended up buying a complete second donor car -- and frankly if you are endurance racing -- you'll get your money back in parts.
Ironically -- our endurance racer boxster -- was my craigslist test mule that helped me figure out my PCA SPB issue.

You gotta pay to play sometimes. This was one of the things where I had to pay more than play when building my enduro Boxster. Also it helped with fuel econ since I had it tuned at the same time (didn't change immobilizer delete price). The most fuel I used at VIR was 14 gallons in 1:55min with a pro driver at VIR full..

... if you do buy a spare ECU I'd recommend sending it off to have the Immobilizer deleted. It cost me $1100 but was well worth it. The immobilizer system has lots of issues, especially if the unit gets wet = no start..

Yikes; But you are right, I need to do the immobilize delete.
Can you send me you source for this?
I've seen these but its another electronic box that can fail.

Well, I'm at a total loss battling the p0336 code.
Many thanks to another forum's member for lending me his DME, Immobilizer and transponder (key pill). I got the car to run with this loaner DME but still have the P0336 error.
I've checked the engine mechanical timing (all 4 cams and crank positions), the crank sensor (2 of them), the wiring to the DME and now a second DME.
I get RPM output on the tach, the scan tool and oscilloscope.
But still have an error.

check the teeth on the flywheel? See if any are chipped?
The early IMS had press fit gears. There have been cases where the gear on the shafts shifts -- I don't know what the symptom of that is however.
I'd ask your question over at 986forum.com -- there's a couple really knowledgeable mechanics that follow that forum. Maybe one of them can chime in.

The early IMS had press fit gears. There have been cases where the gear on the shafts shifts -- I don't know what the symptom of that is however.

But I,m looking more closely at this:
Looking at the crank sensor oscilloscope trace, I'm seeing inconsistencies in the cyl #1 trigger.
Hum...
I'll be checking the teeth, the sensor mounting, flywheel runout.
