The Stoic Instructor
Here's my little ditty about instructing:
The Stoic Instructor
The right seat is where I sit
For my hide, do I care one whit?
As we drive past the long blend line
There are many thoughts which cross my mind
How did I come to be right here?
With my face all stoic, but my mind filled with fear
The student is new and drives a Cup car
Our session is 30 minutes, will we make it that far?
The nannies are active and lights are blinking
When I offered to instruct what was I thinking?
He must have a death wish is my only hunch
Under hard braking I can still taste my lunch
“I do it to give back,” I explain with a smile
I’m certain to die, I think with each mile
Through twists and turns and apexes galore
I say to myself “how strong is this door?”
It’s only a DE but he still wants to win
With driving like this how long ‘till we spin?
One more session and then it’s all over
One more session to keep my composure
But if my soul the Armco should take
I’m sure my last words will be brake Brake BRAKE!

Who knew Luigi was such a poet .
Apparently he is also a lot more patient with me with his students, this is about as far as I would make it without corrections on the student's part:

PIT IN!
I don't mind being a bit apprehensive with a new student and I know I can make any student safe if they will listen - but when then don't listen I'm done. Filled with fear in the right seat is not something I'm okay with.
Just to be clear, I don't mean to crap over Luigi's work - I think it is quite good although maybe a line or two about tightening harnesses and double checking hans straps should be in there too.

This is fantastic, LV. Please recite it at the next CVR PCA drivers' meeting.

Shame washes off with a 15 minute shower.
Don't try to ruin my swipe at Cup cars with facts!

A cup car in an instructed run group would be a big red flag! Pun intended!

I was trying to write a different verse about Cup cars but couldn't think of anything that rhymed with "*****".
C'mon Cuppers! You know I love ya! Except when you dive-bomb me lap after lap and cause black flags which eat up 80% of the race. But beyond that, I absolutely LOVE you guys!
You're exempt Steve.

Whoosh rhymes with douche. You know, the sound you hear when cups go by. All cups are based on street car bodies and will "accept" a passenger seat. But who installs one? And why? Especially when you can have a cooler full of Swedish fish in its place.
