Should I replace these rotors before the next event?
Have probably six or seven track weekends on these front rotors on my 718 Boxster S, with Pagid Yellow pads. They still are nowhere near the minimum thickness but are looking pretty gnarly with all the cracking. Would you be okay running these for another weekend? None of the cracks go to the edge, though some get pretty close (see that one around 9 o’clock).
Thunder Hill, June 5-6 with Hooked on Driving! Will be great to be back on track.

I am not an expert, but from what I have read, this is normal. What you want to watch for is the cracks extending to the outer edges of the rotor. Once they appear on the outer edges, time to replace.

I see cracks to the outer edge (9:00 position especially good example). Heavy lip. Replace.

The 9:00 one does look close to the edge, which you don't want. I also see cracks propagating from the cross drill holes to the point of almost inter-connecting (10:30). You don't want that either. These are very close to end of life. If you like to get the last ounce of life, you could bring a new set at the track and change them during the event, but you might be better off changing beforehand.

Tief,
Your rotors are at the end of their life. I would not even try and do another weekend on them. You will be turned down by the tech inspectors if you don't change them. Consider Giro Disc as a replacement. And consider Ferodo DS3.12 pads.

OP, if you trust Porsche tech manual guidelines, any crack longer than 5mm (.200") extending from any hole in the rotor should declare the rotor at end of life. Or any crack that extends to or from the edge of the rotor, same conclusion, end of life. Some will choose to take this farther, letting cracks get longer. I don't. Your rotors are done, scrap metal.

Just by reading the thread title before clicking on it my gut feeling was "yes" - pictures simply confirmed. What's that saying VR has? "If there is a doubt, there is no doubt".
Besides, not doing them before will take away from your weekend even if they make it the whole weekend because you will be thinking/worrying about it and it will impact your driving. Given how few and far between events are these days, another reason to replace them - it would really be a bummer for one of them to crack Saturday morning...

I used to do that and cracked a few plain E36 M3 front rotors - its obvious by the thump-thump-thump in the brake pedal that this has happened. But then I read about incidents where a rotor shattered (one fatal) and thought better of it. Just not worth the risk, IMHO.
