Standing in the paddock and looking up at the mountain where you can see 3 switchbacks of the track is pretty awe inspiring. The granite boulders get you attention also.

I always liked Putnam Park. Work your *** off and sweat even more in July. No chance to catch your breath. Hope PCA races there again soon.

 

My first Porsche track experience was also Blackhawk Farms in a 3.2 Carrera with PCA.

But when I saw this title, I was thinking about kart tracks. One indoor kart track I’ve been to is 16 seconds long.

Big tracks with long straights can be boring if you don’t have 700 horsepower. Small tracks require a lot more action behind the wheel.

 

Forgot one...

Wilmot, WI ski area. All of 400 ft elevation.

But in the summer there was a 1.2 mile course around the lodge. But that was around 50 years ago.

A blind uphill climb, with PRAY on the hill just before the blind crest.

Saw my second sports car race there. (First was at Meadowdale, but that wasn't a short course!)

 

1.3, 1.7 or 3.1?

 

Right now I'd take what I could get. Do you have a recommendation?

My first track experience was at Waterford Hills, loved that track. I'll drag a car east one these days and drive it again.

Hallett is an excellent track. Great elevation changes, lots of diverse corners and turns, lots of safe runoff. great track for both a beginner and for a seasoned driver, and all skill levels in between

 

ahhh, Meadowdale. I grew up a few miles away from there. It had closed when I was first introduced to it. A couple of my best buddies lived right across the street from it. There was a section of a long straight, just before a descending (or climbing depending on direction) carousel turn, that was washed out. About a 50' canyon remained. The rest of the track remained in pretty good nick. Spent MANY hours on that track screwing around. Beers, make out sessions, perfecting reverse 180 turns, riding dirt bikes. One of my fondest memories growing up. We always wondered what the track was like in its day.

 

There was a TransAm race in the late 60s.

Part of the track is now a forest preserve park.

A preservation group holds regular cars and coffee there.

The Monza Wall is long gone.
