Happenstance, Nat and I have the good fortune of arriving in FL the morning of March 15th (Friday). Looks like we can catch both the WEC race Friday and the 12 hours of Sebring Saturday... been our list of to-do's for many years, looks like 2019 will be the one.
Planning to spend the full race days at the track, will need accommodations for Friday and Saturday nights.
Any ideas to share here - what's he best way to do this? We will be traveling light, so no camping for us.
Besides accommodations, also would be grateful for any tips on how to best enjoy the event.
I from Cali and have only raced there once and will again in January. There is a Quality Inn (863 385 4500) at Sebring not too far from the track that is decent. There is not much in the town so I would not be spending extra days in Sebring. There are other parts of Florida to enjoy especially if your like to fish.
Thanks for the lead. Yeah, we'll be on the back end of 3 weeks south already, dates works out nicely to hit this on the way home... no plans to stay in Sebring other than the two nights sleep...
As far as viewing the race, it is fun to watch the cars coming thru Bishop's Bend during the day. I also like are watching the cars as the come under the bridge in T17 and on to the front straight. At night, I like to see the cars as they approach Turn 7 (Safety Pin) with their glowing rotors. It is also fun, although somewhat tiring, to just wander the whole track facility, roam through the paddock and watch teams work on cars that have come off track. For places to stay, below is a list that I compiled and posted back in 2015. There may have been some changes since then and there may be others not on my list, but some of the ones on this list won't be found on the internet booking sites. I have listed them in order of proximity to SIR. My comments are just observations and my impression from photos. You should Google them yourself. I can't vouch for any on the list except Chateau Elan, which is obviously the most convenient and where I have stayed countless times.

Hey guys a heads up there is a new hotel under construction on US 27 in Sebring Tru by Hilton,last time I heard they planned for an end of year opening might not be on anyone's radar for the Sebring 12 hour weekend, just a "local" suggestion

I visit Divi Galica sometimes and Pete Argetsinger all the time there. Quiet place, except for race week!
Love the Faded Bistro. Best food by far, IMO.
Is the Kenilworth still condemned? No great loss
Started staying in various rooftop garret’s there more than thirty years ago. It was an institution, for sure.
Inn on the Lakes and La Quinta are my favorites, but too late to make reservations for the 12-Hour at both of those.

Inn on the Lakes is my favorite. Not the cheapest but the nicest. Great bar and restaurant. Has a "hotel" feel to it. Breakfast is made to order and free.
My number #2 choice is La Quinta have stayed there 4-5 times.
