I'm going to my first HPDE this Saturday at Homestead Speedway in the 911. My previous track car was a 2005 M3 set up for SuperSolo group which required roll bar, race seat, harness, fire ext, fire suit, gloves and shoes. The M3 was fully set up for track driving. I'm not planning to go that crazy with the Porsche...maybe 2 to max 3 DE a year.

My biggest concern is shredding the outside edge of the OE tires with an improper alignment.

AAK...with stock alignment...just run a higher tire pressure in order to keep the tire from rolling over in the corners and you should be just fine.

Thanks all, great input and much appreciated!

It sounds like all of the tires I mentioned could work. I really wish my current tires were not aged out so I could do weekend and see where I'm at, but I will need fresh tires before heading out. I'm leaning towards the RE71R or AD08R.

FWIW, I ran Star Specs back then which I believe were a decent street tire. I could manage the roll-over and pressures, but found they dropped off towards the end of each session. I'm sure tires are probably better now.

I will consult my Indy on alignment specs, but max front camber with slightly less rear and zero toe sounds about right.

Question on the RE71R... It looks like it's only available in 305/30/19 rear vs 295 stock size. (Tire Rack) Are you guys running the 305 with the stock size 235/35 front tires or up-sizing the fronts to 245/35? I'm running stock Carrera S 19" wheels (8/11?)

Bumping this for advice on tire sizes... Stock 8x19 57 and 11x19 67 wheels, no spacers.

235 / 295?
245 / 295?
235 / 305?
245 / 305?

My alignment is at -3.3F and -2.8R; slight toe out front, toe in rear. I have the exact numbers and will post.

This alignment is not possible with the stock 997.2S suspension. See my signature for what it took to get there.
Big +1 for NT-01s for track, but not for regular street use - occasional ok.

I also have 18x12; 18x9.5 wheels with NT-01s waiting to go on after this set of tires wears out.
