This thread began years ago with a legitimate, civil discussion about a topic I feel is worthy of debate, and I think it still is. I think it has officially “Jumped the shark” now.

Let's start driving around town with the windows down and push the auto manufacturers to start building cars with no windows. Have them get rid of the blinkers as well. Who needs them. Maybe for now will retrofit the manual turn ***** on my cars to lower the windows until they start build cars with no windows. Don't want to be BBQ-ed.

Hah, in the warm weather months my windows are always down. I would rather hear the sounds of the car than the radio. Only music I want to hear is the intake and exhaust sounds of a flat six. I didn't buy a 911 22 years ago for luxury comfort. I bought it to drive and enjoy the visceral feel.
I bought my Audis for comfort. It sure makes car life easier if you buy and drive the right car for the right conditions and reasons.

“A principle that PCA Potomac preaches (and I'm sure many others do as well) is that a pass is a "contract" between drivers. If the lead car gives a point-by he/she is then obliged to facilitate the pass safely. Ideally this would occur with a minimum effect on either lap speeds, but invariably the lead car may have to lift some to let a lower horsepower / better cornering car by. I take this "contract" seriously and thus watch the behavior of the driver in front of me to get a better sense of their intentions and capabilities. Furthermore, as we are all constantly reminded, our eyes need to be up and forward. And I make sure the lead driver can see me and my car in his/her mirror(s), so I watch his/her mirrors. My focus is on the lead driver and what is ahead of us.”
So much goodness here, but then human nature rears its ugly head and negates that optimal ’contract’: Leading driver doesn’t back off slightly; leading driver believes a point by is performed with about 4-6” of their hand/arm sticking out of the window, generally hidden by the wing mirror; leading driver doesn’t give a point by until you’re 2/3rds of the way down the straight. I could go on.
I am firmly in the camp of windows up for multiple reasons as elucidated many times in posts above; but can, in a perfect world, see your point.

I am so going to regret commenting here... but...
The biggest issue I see about using blinkers is that people forget that they're on. A LOT. Or a somewhat flustered beginner can accidently hit them. Then what? We preach "one point by per car", but does the car being passed by multiple cars just leave the signal on? Was it on purpose or did he/she forget? Does he/she know I'm passing?
Our old race car (914) didn't have turn signals. What then?
I'm not even sure the signals work in our SPC car.
I just see a lot of ambiguity with turn signals.
And comparing PDX or any of these other small group instructions to a full HPDE are poor examples. When they're only a few cars on the track it's easier. I've been at an HPDE with 50+ cars all of widely varying speed. I'm not sure I would trust turn signals.
