Real price of CGT
Because of the huge problems with who was getting the first three allocations at my local dealer . The dealer sent in the 150k months ago while they sorted out who gets the first 3 cars. As a result they have had my uncashed check for months and in fact told me I was third many months ago. But since my car will not be in until 05 they just left my check in the file and never cashed it . Well today they told me they cashed it and handed me a pro forma invoice to sign to verify the options. The actual cost of the car is not 440k but 446,190. The 6k over 440 covers 765 for destination 175 for preparation credit , 200 for computer service charge and 5400 for gas guzzler tax. Well I told my salesperson for 440k Porsche can service their own computer and since the car will be close to half a million out the door, I don't want any gas since I will not be driving it. On account of after paying that much for a car , I will be afraid to pull it out of the garage. So get this! She gives me a great big hug and say's honey yes you will pay for gas guzzler and you have never had your computer serviced like the way we do it. well after the hug I held firm and said.... Ok I will pay it but I won't like it. She then gives me another hug and a snuggle with her rather chesty you know whats, at which point I can tell that her you know whats are real and not after market equipment. And she tells me you will pay it and LIKE it!. So I held firm and said ok... I will pay it and like it but, not pay the 765 dollar destination fee. She then gives me another hug a snuggle and now a wuggle. So I held firm and signed my life away on the car. So after arriving home I felt so cheap and used I couldn't wait to dive in to the latest issue of 911 Porsche world with the CGT on the cover. And on the first page , the editor Chris Horton says yeah I drove it and its a great car, but not worth 4 times a GT3 or 3 times a GT2 or even 10 times a boxster. Its really for people with more money then they know what to do with. (which ain't me). Well gee thanks a lot Chris couldn't you just sugar coat it at least a little. So I call back my salesperson and held firm about getting my deposit back. And she tells me" but sugar you will have a faster car then my GT2 owning friends and my Viper buddys. So I held firm and said Ok. But wait , then my buddy with his viper tells me he just ordered a supercharger. And my other buddy with two GT2s calls and says his 700 HP upgrade kit just arrived..... Needless to say my first official day of being a CGT owner was very stressful.

So you are saying you don't want the computer serviced, gas in it, or want is delivered? Also, it doesn't sound like you held firm on anything, another "hug" or two and you probably would have paid another 10k for a wash and wax. I'm willing to bet your appearent income came by marriage or handme down. Tell the dealership to fire the ****.

Eyal, yes of course you can have a ride. I may need you to help pay for gas since I will be broke after I buy the car......... And Paul as you can tell I am a spineless jellyfish.

les, you are one funny dude. your post was the first i'd heard about the gas tax being so high. too bad i don't have a salesperson like yours to soften the blow - so to speak.

You negotiate like me! Car dealers salivate when they see me pull up. Although I prefer for the ones I've dealt with to keep their distance.
Next time I'm in Vegas, I'd gladly donate at least $100 to the gas fund in return for a ride in the car.
