Headed in with 600 miles on it. Transmission shifting issue. Seal between transmission and diff went out causing cross oil contamination. This is the standard procedure to replace a transmission. Sorry they are not in order.

And, now with over 9,000 miles i did not have any issues after they finished the work it was perfect.....And YES it was painful to watch this new car be completely disassembled.

WOW WOW WOW!!! Holy molly swb3! That's impressive! All of that for an oil seal I can't imagine costing more than a few hundreds...
I'd be interested how many hours it took from start to finish...?
Thanks for the photos!

It's been a while but as I recall the actual work took about two weeks with one technician and about one week assistance from Porsche NA. So about 100 hours plus or minus not including the Porsche mothership assistance. I know the price tag on the transmission was $75,000 because that was on the paperwork sent to my dealer. I was without the car about one month, they struggled at the end to send enough oil for the transmission but while it seemed silly they did not know how much to send in the grand scheme of things it was no big deal. The pictures are scary but with a professional working such as my dealer had it was no big deal. As the CGT proves Porsche knows how to plan for these expected problems even if they occur early in the cars life.

Honestly I was sure the car would have leaks and pressure loss issues, there were just so many systems disassembled, but as I said not an issue.

And YES isn't it amazing how much ONE seal can cost!!

If you haven't seen it, there is a How It's Made Dream Cars on the 918. Pretty interesting.
