this car, is the closest I can think of to next-generation McLaren F1. If i had the money, I would purchase and hold and put my kids through college with the sale proceeds. at $700k this is one of the few bargains.

GTO has better sound and more limited numbers and is a lot easier to live with - clearance, no clutch learning curve, ease getting in and out (unfortunately an issue as I get a little older )
CGT is more unique and has the manual (so both a plus and minus)
The F40 is a better comparison to the CGT IMHO, both are wild in appearance and driveability, expensive to maintain, nowhere close to DD status, similar numbers. Enzo has always traded higher than f40 for similar reasons to my comparison above.
Also, the CGT has to deal with the Ferrari marque premium.
All in all, the CGT values will be fine and supported as a special unique vehicle and should appreciate nicely over time.
It was cool to have them both for a time!

rm is 10%, so all in price was $715k for the buyer. on the flip side $585k was the seller net. If anyone on here wants to unload their low mile CGT, I am a private buyer / collector in the mid $600's - no need to give our money to an auction house.

Lots of cars for sale at the moment tho no doubt. Deals abound.

Great car! I almost bought one in early 2014 and when the deal fell apart I got so upset I stopped paying attention to the market. How high did they get? Late 2013 they were 350-400. Early 2014 they moved to 400-450 and then exploded...

I completely agree with the statements here about the uniqueness of the CGT; listening to so much of the good stuff Porsche is producing today that is focused on the "Driver's emotional response," I compare each new car to the CGT. The hugely desired Cayman GT4 is a like a little brother to the CGT; listen to the EVO interview of the new 911R and you can turn almost all of those statements on the Spinal Tap dial to "11" for the CGT (all except the rear wheel steering). Yet, compared to the open market prices for these vehicles, the CGT looks like a steal at the current prices... And it is just so beautiful (918 is also extremely so too). Anyhow, it's MODERN OLD SCHOOL and that brings many contradictions and complications. As someone said a while ago, "you just don't fall into a CGT". You have to be a true, well studied lover of cars to develop the time and energy to live with a CGT. This has been noted by almost anyone. And as Jeremy Clarkson exclaimed in his Top Gear review (one of the best) "boy oh boy, and when you do, you get the rewards..."

Before the BIG boom in prices I recall the CGT being had for $400-500K.
IMO, today anything over $550k+ is healthy for these cars. So the market is still strong since it is not below $500k.
Market is currently flooded with owners looking to cash out, same with 993 turbo. But prices are not back down to were they once were on either car.
