Ford GT 2016
I was denied a Speciale last year and put my name down / order on a Ford GT.
Could not be happier with the result.

According to this....http://jalopnik.com/ford-gt-this-is-it-1678893649
"...it has a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 (yes, seriously) with more than 600 horsepower. The twin-turbo mill is mounted amidships and mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox nestled inside a carbon fiber tub."

Congrats on that, you will have some fun fun fun! Ford really outdid themselves with this car. One of the best looking things to come out of this country. It will be one of the most dramatic road cars ever with a body like that. Amazing.

I felt the same over the Heritage 918 and others even looked at a Shelby recreation - winter boredom.
Luckily I have a tenant who owns a few Ford dealers and only purchase Ford's for our company - made sure my name was #1 on the list after a Speciale wasn't doable.
Bad news it's 18 months away - good news everywhere else I don't mind the TT6 at 600hp but hoping it beats the Z06 F458s Mc650s it certainly looks convincing.
I have not heard production numbers but being all CF they won't be able to pump out that many guessing 1000 - 1500 per year for two years.

With a rumored 300 units per year and 1,200 max worldwide build most of us even those who can afford one will not be able to acquire one. Ford would be crazy to price these at $250k, as the market would easily pay $500k and up.

I was told they are comparing this to the 458s and Ford will not leave money on the table - especially due to the limited numbers.
Bottom line is this car competes 90% with the 918 La Ferrari and P1 at less than half the price.

Do you think they'll be able to lighten it enough and squeeze sufficient grunt from that V6 to compete with 900 hp cars? I only see that happening if they can get it down to around 2500 lbs. which is unlikely.

It doesn't seem like it'll be able to compete with the 918.... But will compete more closely with the F12 and Aventador.
Unless and this is going on a huge limb, there's another electric power plant in addition to the 600hp V6 which hasn't been mentioned.

The aero looks hugely functional to me, and with the small motor and carbon tub it should be light. Should be fast as hell.

A return to Le Mans would certainly grab the attention of Ferrari and Aston Martin’s GT teams.
Adding to the nostalgia is the fact the new car's launch year, 2016, also coincides with the 50th anniversary of when the original Ford GT finished 1-2-3 at the Le Mans race.
Chip Ganassi Racing has been touted as the team to run the racing GTs. With much success in the IndyCar, NASCAR and United SportsCar championships, the team will be charged with catapulting Ford to the head of its class once again.

Just depends how much juice Ford is willing to give their street legal cars.
Ford is boasting they are a race focused company and with the Raptor Mustang and now the GT it's hard to argue and I think they are growing tired of Shelby.
The GT is about bragging rights and they have had their fill with Ferrari Audi Aston Corvette etc. They are making money and they want bragging rights - only time will tell but they have til next fall to steal a crap load of F1 tech to make this thing the beast vs the 650s & 458s.
Given the low production numbers makes me think - Ford's Board Room wants to reset the bar to the days of the GT40 Heritage. Fun times but the La P1 & 918 doubtful it will compete.
