918 Test Drive at Infineon/Sears Point on Wednesday, June 25th
I will be attending the 918 Spyder 'Start Your Engine' event at Infineon in Sonoma, CA on Wednesday, June 25th. I plan to take photos and report on whatever Porsche will be telling the group of deposit holders. I am a guest of a deposit holder that should be receiving his 918 Spyder pretty darn soon (his was May production). So he might already have transferred funds and be an actual 'owner' rather than just a deposit holder!

If any of you have any specific questions re: the 918 Spyder, please post them here and I'll try to get answers to your questions or concerns from the Porsche staff that will be attending the event. No guarantees...but I'll give it a shot.

To my knowledge, this is the last location for this '918 Road Show' in the US. The final day at Infineon is Thursday, June 26th. Here was the original planned schedule which I posted back in 4/20/14:
New York: April 30th - May 1
Miami: May 19 - 21 (Homestead?)
Chicago: May 27 - 29
Austin: June 17 - 18 (Circuit of the Americas?)
San Fran: June 24 - 26 (Infineon/Sears Point/Sonoma).

I have been able to confirm the following last week during the Porsche Club Of America Parade in Monterey:
a) The passenger sport bucket seat on the 918 Spyder will not be able to be ordered with the adjustable height control option. This is available in ROW but has not been approved for the US. The seat will move forward and backwards...but that is it.
I have been told the following also, although it has yet to be confirmed:
b) Only two customer 918 Spyders have been delivered in the US to date. I believe they went to Seinfeld and Leno, but I'll double check that for you to see if there has been more recent arrivals via air freight. I also heard that Ralph Lauren is pissed his has not yet arrived! Wow...this is already sounding like the 'National Enquirer'.
***************
I expect this event to be similar to what I experienced at The Thermal Club near Palm Springs, CA last November. I reported to you that event at this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...st-2013-a.html
The only difference for me is that I will not be driving a 918 at Infineon. I will only be a spectator and soak-in the 918 ambiance with the cognoscenti!

Eduardo

Mike: Due to the lack of the optional height adjustable passenger seat for your wife, have you given up trying to get a 918 Spyder?

That must be 'Fraise / Rose Red / Raspberry' color (024) on Penske's 918 which was available in the early 1970's in the 911s and was used on an IROC 911 RSR that he owned and was raced at Riverside (see photo). You have to have an assured sense of masculinity to order a car, an expensive 918 at that, in that color...and I like it a lot! Good for Roger!

"Eduardo,
The 918 is Guards Red – unfortunately not Rasberry. Does look great in person though. What I’ve found interesting too is a photo in Panorama magazine this month showing 2 red 918’s on the production line. I’m guessing there’s not too many in Red…. Have fun with the 918 tomorrow. Talk to you soon.
Thanks,

Here some pics of the cars at Sonoma Raceway. I rather stumbled across them and spent some time chatting with the two Porsche Techs there to prep them. The navy blue car is Euro Spec and is not for driving the other two are demos/driving cars. They named the 3 cars Meredith, Carrie and I forgot the 3rd name (my bad.) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...7859018&type=1
Pretty cars. It was interesting to hear the techs talk about them vs, the CGT. Let's jus say the techs are much more impressed with the 918 than the CGT

They also refuse to talk about brake durability in any meaningful way. I don't need another engineering project to enjoy a car only slightly less "streetable" than my CGT
