Default Test Drive on Tour: 918 Spyder

Anyone going to one at various tracks around the country??? Apparently there taking it on tour prior to the official launch..

A friend with a Lambo Murcie and a F458 rcvd an invite, but he's not a track guy and needed my help. So we're headed to Monticello MC in Ny Sept. 12. Probably lucky to get 3 laps but want to see the track also

Still waiting on my invite from P...

Are the invitees allowed to drive the car? Have the 918 seats been approved for US roads? If not, the only way they can drive the car is if the low production numbers exempt the 918 from DOT regulations.

Yes however they are woefully short on buyers. Last I heard only 400 or so have been sold out of the 918 to be produced.

I would be very surprised 400 people shelled out $1million with tax on this car.Thats a lot of people.

It's just not an attractive car and looks to much like a modified Carrara GT

One of the engineers in a 918 vid on youtube stated the car is meant to be a technology showcase much like the 959 in 1987 and to target new Chinese and Russian markets that did not even exist in 1987. Most of us are obviously not the demographic for this car... But a LW mid engine platform for $250k (960) would tempt me step up to the plate down the road

That is true. It'll be embarrassing if they can't build and sell 918 of them.

Believe 9/18 is the production start date.
