Default Another bites the dust

#306 was damaged to the point of being called a total, ~198K in parts.

The car still runs fine and drives, but 3 rims, all of the under body parts, nose and all the bits, rear diffuser and everything attached, engine carrier cracked, and whacked into the bottom of the engine, rear bumper. But from the bumpers up the car is fine, except a crack in the windshield.. bummer

Its out on Coparts for bidding if your interested.

What happened?! Is the monocoque damaged?

I'm sure there are a ton of GT3/RS owners who would love to get their hands on those seats...

I know someone who had an off road experience and the repair cost was $150,000. Most parts where just carbon damage, one radiator and bracket, two wheels and tires.. and front bumper repaint.

There are two more cars on Copart up for grabs in the following days.. here are the links..

Sad. We are talking about this on the 997 GT2/GT3 forum. Is it true, there are no spare monocoques available from Porsche AG if a damaged CGT needs one to be right again?

A CGT in Vancouver was high centred on a lane divider a couple of years ago. It had to be sent back to Stuttgart for the repair to the tub/underneath. Cost a fortune and I understand there is a collision insurance coverage ban on that car now.

I'm not in the insurance business but I can understand rejecting this car model with regards to comphrehsive/collision coverage. A carbon fiber monocoque in a street car is in another league when it comes to damage repair.

i imagine the porsche factory is the only home for damaged CGTs.

perhaps in time porsche restoration services will handle more of these 2nd hand lions for future owners...

I was thinking the same. Staff that built them originally could get into this for Porsche AG. Still expensive to take one of these cars apart.

Default CGT total

To answer your question, sorry for the delay . I didn't check the vin number. but you could be correct. From what I have discovered the car was transported to a local P -shop for repair in Monterey, which took a lot of pictures, then transfered it to the dealer for factory review by the local certified mechanic. So he had to pull the car apart to get a exact evaluation of the car. So the Coparts pictures could be from anyone! The local insurance rep was sent to Monterey Porsche to determine the outcome.

The car had 4416 miles at impact, on factory delivered tires, which I call " Fred Flintstones Blues" which are the original tire. 5 years old and dry as an old .....

Porsche does not build garage couches. They build cars. Drive them.
