Your opinion, will the CGT drop in price once the 918 comes out?? If yes, by how much

I'm on the fence wether to get another CGT now or wait for the 918 to be released. I don't need another car right away (have enough toys) so I can wait a while if it means saving some $$ or loosing too much by buying now. Thanks for your educated imput in advance!

CGT prices have been very stable and will continue to be. The 918 is a very different price point so will not have any negative effect on CGT prices. If anything will support them because you will have some people that want a porsche supercar but the 918 will be out of their price range, if it were priced closer it might have a negative effect. I just sold my CGT last week so I am impartial .

Hi Dan,
Glad to hear you're on the prowl again. Keep it this time!
Even though some have called the 918 the cgt's successor, I don't see it that way. I see it as a whole new philosophy, different pricepoint as NYC mentioned, etc. As such, I don't see it affecting cgt pricing much either. Just my $0.02.

i think we will look back at the cgt as perhaps the last pure ( manual , no stability managed , requires time to truly master ) Supercar .
I think in time they will become legend . I will never ever sell mine , get one and hold on to it

The 918 will be all "Digital", hopefully easy to drive and priced over the moon.... giving the older "analog" C-GT its rightful place in history.
When pushing to the limits, I believe the C-GT will be the last production Porsche capable to reward (or discipline) a driver based on his/her uncensored abilities.
And that in my book is the essence of driver satisfaction.

Agreed, I sold my yellow 2004 in 2005 and have missed it ever since. I just picked up a 1,500 mile Guards Red 2005 with factory options from a Porsche franchise, it came with a 30.65mm clutch inspection, oil/filter change and delivery.... I'm a happy boy..

Had an '04 and sold it - missed it and got another and I will never sell it - I have an order in for the 918 - jury is out but I am willing to try
.
As far as pricing, IMO the CGT will continue to probably drop a little - BUT NOT becasue of the 918's launch (this is not like what happens when the 458 came out and the 430 dropped and when the 430 came out and the 360dropped, etc) Spiritual sisters, perhaps, but not replacement and not many are going to say "Should I get a CGT or a 918 - and be able to pull the trigger on a 918; nor will CGT owners dump theirs because the 918 is coming and flood the market.
I think long-term the CGTs are $250k cars - I don't care really as I did not buy it as an investment, but as the miles pile up and service ramps up, pricing will degrade and then settle.
But what do I know........

I agree with what others here have said, I do not believe the 918 will affect CGT prices. I also think CGT prices will drop a little more over the next several years before leveling off. Just my $0.02.
Polar Pete - Congrats on the new car!!! That is my dream car and the perfect color combo IMHO. I especially like the red stitching and carbon fiber shifter ****. Enjoy her in great health.

CGT prices should hold stable regardless of the launch of the 918. They are Different cars in different price ranges. I sold my 2005 CGT a few years ago and now looking to pick up another one right now. I have my eyes on a 2005 seal gray with 1800 miles going in for a PPI tomorrow. As more and more people buy these cars for a long term investment, prices should stabilize and possibly creep up, especially for nice low mileage examples.

Honestly, I think the CGT prices will strengthen up a bit since the pricing of the 918 is almost twice what people anticipated.
