Secret Revealed
The deal is done, shipping arranged and patience is being tested.
I am the proud owner of a brand new CGT, and ironically it was the GT3 (which I will finish up selling) that tipped me over the edge of a 3+ year dither.
I speced my RS today as well!
And a special mesaage to Nick, since I also own an F430 Spider.. "you are so full of it".

Colm,
I was the owner of 3 911's, an 04 tt cab, an 07 tt, and a 07 997 GT3 plus assorted others. I sold my GT3 last Saturday and I have been thinking about the CGT. Why did you decide to buy a CGT now?

Actually, I decided to buy a CGT when it was first launched, put a $50K deposit on one, and went to Leipzig in August 03 to preview the car.
The Dealers and Porsche made such a clusterf^*k (increasing production and price) of establishing this car that I decided to wait, figuring there was no downside. With only 6 cars left (even though the locator shows 10) it was time to act since I wanted a new one. In the meantime, I had bought an F430 and GT3 ( both comparable in many respects, each one having it's strenghts) and this convinced me that the CGT not only was an incredible value but light years ahead in terms of technology, not likely to be repeated for a long time, and I wanted to be an original owner .
In the end (after 3 years of anguish) I figured I was running out of time (having watched the market very carefully, and the reduction in supply through inappropriate use), so I pulled the trigger. It is a supercar afterall.
The color is GT Silver, I had really considered red, white being unavailable, but my kids prefered the GT silver, it being the traditional color, so that's what I went with.

Congratulations. I also went with silver. I saw a red CGT tonight for the first time and thought is was great. I bought a used 05 with 1800 miles although I would have bought a new if I didn't miss a great deal at 350,000. I have not seen another new one at that price and probably never will. There are many less CGT for sale compared to 3 months ago, I think you were wise to pull the trigger. Hope you don't have to wait too long for it to get to you.

others know the cars much better than i, but i'm not sure you would be a cgt kind of guy if you prefer the tt over the gt3.
the cgt is more raw like the gt3 than refined like the tt.
if the 997 gt3 wasnt your kind of thing i would doubt the cgt would be either.

I didn't sell the GT3 because I didn't like it, on the contrary I thought it was trul an amazing car. I put alot of miles on my cars(I have 22k on my 04 tt cab) and I don't get to the track as much as I used to. That said, my 07 tt with PCCBs is a great daily performer and with a GIAC ecu upgrade, H&R springs, and an AWE exhaust it will be perfect. I have been watching the CGT market for some time and when I find an 05 blk/blk for under 350k I will buy it and keep it for a very long time. If there is someone on the list who know of this car please send me a PM.
