You can't believe what John Lewis can do with a car. Especially a Porsche.

I had the privilege of riding shotgun on a hot lap with him at the Barber track version of this same event last year. He is amazing!

Ok I know I am going to be flamed for posting this but I am compelled to do so.

Having John Lewis give hot laps in a CGT to sell the car to prospective buyers is something I find troubling. I wonder how many ultimate buyers will try to emulate what Lewis can do with the CGT. Isn't that the point of the demonstration? That is to show what the car can do thus encouraging prospective buyers to do the same? Isn't that a recipe for disaster especially with a car like the CGT?

Yup, Nick. A compulsion sounds about right, as in compulsive-obsessive.

The horse you are beating has been dead for some time, now. Give it up!

FWIW when I was at the very first Porsche driving experience, I was in the car with Hurley Haywood before he was going to race around Road Atlanta against Dave Murrey. He asked me if I any any suggestions for improving the class going forward. I told him had they considered giving student's hot laps to show them what the cars can do before getting into the two day instruction and driving. His response " Are you kidding Nick? We will have student's killing themselves out here thinking they can do what we can do in these cars."

One other point. Just before he started his race with Dave Murrey he told me he was disengaging the PSM and if I was comfortable with that. Of course I told him I was.

That's why they give the hot-lap rides at the conclusion of the event

You're right Nick..... You are going to be flamed for posting this! You're like the guy in the theater who yells fire when some jerk lights up a cigarette! Is the 'sky falling' too?

Back in the mid 70s, I went to Stoddard Porsche in Cleveland, Ohio and Chuck Stoddard himself took me for a ride in a 911E Sportomatic. I pretty sure Chuck had raced in LeMans (not sure how he did or what year) and I'm sure getting to the LeMans Race was no easy task.

He drove that car to its outer limits and scared the hell out of me. It was afterward that I found out that he had driven in the LeMans Race. When I bought my 911T with Sportomatic, I didn't go out of my mind trying to emulate him.

To me it sounds like you think everyone who buys a 'supercar' is a raving lunatic once they wrap their hands around the steering wheel! I must be an extreme exception to the rule. If that is the case, I apologize to my 'brethren' for being a 'chicen s_ _ t! Michael

Michael, have you taken any of your cars to Mid Ohio or Beaver Run yet?

You don't need a fast car to give punters an 'Adrenalin run', as its called in the trade.

The adrenalin run is very good at getting blokes to shell out the spondulicks and some babes to become Ecdysiasts.

One day I'm going to get a car with windscreen wipers on the side windows!

No, not really into racing of any kind with my cars. I use to drag raced in the 70s at many N.H.R.A. National Meets. Had a lot of fun but never did any good. Once hit a guard rail doing 100-110 mph after a rear end problem. That kinda straightened out my desire to do any more kind of car racing! Michael

John is a good guy, and a damn good driver. He lives a couple of miles from me and I've had the pleasure of riding BMSP track with him. Sounds like a great time. Last year it was rumored that PNA would add that C GT class to the PDE at Barber, on a permanent basis.

Jeff I'm actually thinking about either renting the track and a few of the instructors, or just getting a personal group together (employee's and friends) for a private PDE class. You interested? I won't know the cost until I call Lindsay tomorrow.
