Recall campaign

I have to say, it's really sucked having a full summer without being able to drive the car...

My Porsche dealer here in Fort Worth, Texas just called me today and requested that I get on their service schedule for two outstanding recalls. They quoted the trailing arm and washer nozzle recalls. I queried the service advisor about whether new suspension parts are available and got a vague answer that all owners on their list were getting called in. Any one else gotten a notification? Seems a bit premature since we’ve all heard a Q3 estimate at best.

Currently unable to drive the car since May last year when UK insurers withdrew road cover.

What’s weird is that my dealership insisted I make a service appointment to do the work. They gave me April 12th…I’m highly skeptical they will have the parts then. We’ll see…if they don’t, I’m not going to take my car in for a washer nozzle repair 😂

In addition orchestrating the priority of cars will be a consideration, will it be age or mileage or both deciding who’s cars come in first. In the UK this will primarily be dictated by DVSA and I assume in the US the NHTSA.

The ramifications of an accident whilst taking the blasé attitude Doug has chosen to adopt if the identified components fail is far reaching.
Until the new parts are available and installed, assuming it’s ’all Ok’ is foolhardy at best, and reckless in the worst case.

I saw the Doug video yesterday and it felt to me like he quite nervous....maybe he expected to flip the car for a profit and now people are pushing back with the recall? Or was just defensive about people peppering him about driving the car who knows but he looked pretty uncomfortable to me.

But I don't think he bought the car to flip though. He's total, absolute and complete Petrolhead and he's perceptively realised that the Carrera GT may be one of the greatest sports cars ever made - values may (or may not) be soft now during the recall period, but there's a looong way to go with them, and as a driving experience, the car is hard to beat at any price.

Or totally misunderstanding the implications of a ‘stop drive’ campaign which is akin to an aircraft grounding.

As for the "danger" of driving the car, why do you think this is any greater than 18 months ago when we had no idea this was even an issue at all? Porsche's own communications reveal they haven't yet had a single incident or accident attributed to this issue, and my suspension joints have been inspected (twice!) by the finest in the business with no corrosion shown. The concept that everything was totally fine before the recall, suddenly we discover the recall and now it's "akin to an aircraft grounding" and driving the car is "foolhardy and reckless" is almost as dramatic as your insurers' attitude toward the problem.
I hope you get back on the road soon. I honestly and truly admire how often you drive your car. I've driven mine 2,500 miles in the last year, and I have no doubt that's far greater than whichever idiot above accused me of trying to flip the car for a profit.
