Correct.

Insurance companies stance:

'We regret that until the manufacturer completes the necessary repairs and issues a formal “safe to drive” notice, we are not prepared to maintain offering comprehensive cover on any Carrera GT which may be susceptible to the risk that Porsche have identified.

We do appreciate the likelihood of a problem is remote, but as we are obliged to provide unlimited personal liability cover for vehicles insured on a comprehensive basis, we cannot take the risk of maintaining road risk liability, when the manufacturer has issued a “do not drive” instruction. For reference, we are taking this stance on all Carrera GTs that we insure, and would adopt this same approach with any manufacturer who issued such an important notice on their vehicles.'

End of fun until Q3 2024, I understand there maybe some improvement on LT for the new wishbones.

G
Chubb and Aviva. The UK teams are reaching out to their colleagues globally as confirmed by a call I had with Chubb on Monday.

For those of us that have installed Ohlins or KWs, can we continue to drive the car (and get approval from insurance company to do so)?

it’s the wishbones that are affected these remain OEM. Aftermarket dampers are only the shocks and springs.

it’s the rose joints where the wishbones mount to the tub that are the at risk parts.

Damn, this is depressing. The Supercar subforum went from talking about a new P Supercar concept to an old supercar that may be grounded for months . It has been my only “fun car” for quite a long time (I’m not complaining) but a slippery slope turned full mechanical resto 1965 911 project should be done any week now (I’ve gone from any month to any week!). So it’s possibly “good” timing because the cgt won’t get much drive time after being reunited from a 2 year process on the old guy. This definitely strengthens my argument with the wife that 2 is the BARE minimum for fun cars. What if one is out of commission for months?! What am I to do in the meantime?

^ likewise. BUT if there's an official recall, while you are convered, you hit someone.... how does it work... you are "illegally" driving the recall car or will you still be covered?

Pretty sure then it comes down to whether the accident is result of the failure of the specific part involved in the recall?

I've been pondering this comical situation where Porsche has a CGT corral at Rennsport. Do they cancel the corral? What about parade laps? Funny.

I would love it if this group, as well as other CGT owners, could pull together Porsche for a meeting (in person or virtual) to brief on the situation and recommendations (e.g. compensation) over the next ~12 months. It isn't healthy for a car like this to sit idle, especially for most of us who intend to drive these cars many miles over many years to come.

Already something we are working on with 25 UK owners. FYI, the word 'compensation' has been proffered by PCGB, although no clarity on what this would be. I am 500 miles off 60,000 miles and have done 10,000 in the last 12 months, I'm really unhappy to say the least!
