Yeah absolutely. During a service this can be done for about $1500 a side. Inner and outter joints cleaned, both boots replaced, new clamps and new grease.

It would be pretty awesome if they replaced the full suspension (wear item) on a 17-18yr old car. Idk enough about that piece that broke off to know if it would be reasonable for them to replace part of it, only cgts that show wear/corrosion or if they went wonky and replace 1/4 corners that showed issue. I guess I hope for the full Monty replacement although I don't think I'd replace my KW w/lift with new OEM. still would be nice to have a fresh set to keep in a box, on Porsche's dime??

In October 22, 2020, a parts collection activity was undertaken to obtain exemplar parts from 20 in-service
vehicles, to better understand the potential causes and the overall condition regarding potential
(intergranular) corrosion.
The result was that no critical damage caused by corrosion to the examined components could be detected. No
cracks or ruptures were detected. Markets with high use of road salt showed signs of increased normal surface
corrosion, but all other analyses show unremarkable results.
Because the initial analysis was inconclusive, through all 2021 and the beginning of 2022 more parts were
obtained and tested from other markets around the world.
Between November of 2022 and January 2023, material analyses results gave indications that the used
material does not have enough corrosion resistance over the service life.
In February 2023 to March 2923, Porsche conducted additional driving tests / simulations in order to evaluate
the potential driving behavior in case of a failure while driving. For this reason, a suitable simulation method
and model had to be defined and validated.
On March 29, 2023, out of abundance of caution, Porsche decided to voluntarily recall the subject vehicles as
described below.
Description of Remedy Program : The campaign will be conducted in two phases. Due to unavailability of
parts, the subject components will first be inspected. If the inspection
shows no abnormality in the affected components, the vehicle can
continue to be used without restriction. Customers will be notified again
when the remedy parts are available for retrofit. Should abnormalities be
identified during the inspection, Porsche will advise customers not to use
the vehicle until the retrofit is completed and will offer alternative
transportation upon request.
The owner’s letter will advise that Porsche offers a reimbursement for prenotification remedies in accordance with 49 CFR §573.13.
How Remedy Component Differs
from Recalled Component :
The material of the recalled component is made of ‘X46Cr13”. The remedy
component will be made of a more robust material (42CrMoS4).
Identify How/When Recall Condition
was Corrected in Production :
Not applicable.
Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Customers will be notified of the Recall within 60 days of the filing of this
report. If no remedy is available at 60 days an interim letter will be sent
to customers, followed by a final notification when the remedy becomes
available.
Planned Dealer Notification Date : APR 19, 2023 - APR 19, 2023
Planned Owner Notification Date : JUN 02, 2023 - JUN 02, 2023

Same thing in Asia just now, from my dealer. Initially they wanted to inspect cars individually, and potentially allow some cars to be used if there are no sign of issues. That was set aside, and now no use on all cars, full stop.

It's important to remember it is a 'recommend stop use' campaign. Complete over-reaction by PAG, the facts do not support such draconian tactics.

Does anyone know what PAG will change? Only spherical joints on end of coilovers? Complete coilover? Other spherical joints not on coilovers?

All vehicles will have new replacement wishbones which will have spherical joints with chromium and molybdenum content. The issue - or a rather one isolated issue is related to the spherical joints where they mount to the tub. It’s nothing to do with the rose joints on the dampers.

Ahhh. So when they are changing all the arms that should be a great time to hand the tech a box of Ohlins. Thanks for the info.

So the VIN range published on the recall notice doesn’t matter? All cars will get the replacement parts? My car is actually not in the range.
