Default Rear Hatch wont open

I wired my Battery charger into the engine bay, and today when I went to disconnect it, the hatch wouldnt open. The battery is fine, I can hear the mechanism working, but it wont pop open. Even had the wife pull the latch while I pushed and pulled on the hatch to no avail. Any ideas? Thank you!

There's a manual way to open it. There's a release wire inside the left rear wheel well. You have to peel the liner "out" just a little right where the liner meets the rear fender. Look inside w a flashlight and you'll see the release. Looks like the eye of a sewing needle made of wire. Use something to pull it and cover will release.

Have someone shine a light through the rear tail light- towards the ground. That made it super easy for me to find the wire Brian references above.

You have to be pulling the liner back a bit and I used a coat hanger, but a long pick tool could help too. Here's the thread Jimmy started https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...operation.html

Is it a torx screw you use to remove the fender liner?

It's pliable - you can just bend it back in a small gap and get a tool in there...

Jimmy walked me through it, and just as he noted the lock mechanism had come dislodged. All fixed!! Thank you everyone.

Basicly,, the actuator sits below the latch. Once I got the plastic cover off that covers the latch, you could see the actuator just dangling there. The actuator just slides in to 2 screw points and you tighten when you have slight pressure on the latch linkage. You can see how over time its possible for the latch to work itself loose.

I'm sure this will be helpful info in the future as these things fail on more than one car. Good to know, thank you!

Was Happy to help, and relieved it was something as easy/free as re installing the actuator. I have experienced this failure a handful of times personally. I will create a write up walking everyone through the steps I helped Allan with as its fairly easy and avoids a trip to the dealer.

As always, I am here to help!
