Air bag light
I took mine in for annual oil change and new battery. I also had an issue with the auto start function. I had to go to a different dealer because the regular dealer I had always gone to has lost their only factory trained cgt technician. All work was completed including the adjustment made for the auto start function to work properly. When I started the car, the air bag light came on and stayed on. I mentioned this to the service manager and he told me that they cleared the light twice but it came back on again. Would anyone know why this happened?

never had that issue
but the code reader should indicate why the air bag light is on.
perhaps one of the airbag wire got knocked loose.

I have a 560sl that the airbag light came on and stayed on. It came on after I jumped the car and accidentally reversed polarity on the battery. A fuse blew going to the ABS system, saving the diodes in the alternator. Just a thought. It might be something similar. 2 german companies. By the way, that blown fuse wasn't in the fuse box, it was an inline fuse. Well known to those that know, but not me. Let us know the outcome.

Have the codes checked with the Porsche PS2 tester. I had a clockspring with too high resistance. Clockspring is a 996-item, replacing is easy. Just need to clear the codes afterwards.

Auto Start function? What is that? Perhaps something else I don't know about my CGT... like the CD player that I have not seen since I bought mine 7 years ago (although I've never looked for it either...).

I think he meant when you let up clutch slowly without feeding throttle, the car will drive itself.
