Default Winter tire recommendations

I traded out the RS Spyder rims that came with my suv for the below 21" performance tires shown below and couldn't be happier. I now need to find winter tires/wheels and wanted to find out if anyone had any recommendations for where to go/what to pick. I looked at tirerack.com but wasn't thrilled with the amount of options. Really hoping to get somthing close to what I have now if at all possible...

Also, if anyone has anything they are selling I would be interested as well. Thanks

Might want to check Discount Tire if you haven't. Good selection of wheels to fit the Macan. I'm looking at 20" staggered set-up for winter and probably will go with the TSW "Nurburgring" wheel.

Nokian has a new Hakkapelitta R3 SUV studless tire out this year. It's not Porsche "approved" but the load range is actually as high or higher than N0 tires.

I've run Hakkas, Mich Latitude Alpin and Blizzaks before on an S4 and much prefer the Hakkas,

Discount Tire carries Nokian, but you would probably have to order them. Took about 3 weeks for mine to arrive at my local Discount Tire store - no freight charge either.

Hakka R3 SUV Spec:
295/40R20 110T XL
up to 118 mph, max load 2340 lb

265/45R20 108T XL
up to 118 mph, max load 2200 lb

TSW - Nurburgring

You could buy these and put winter tires on them. Then you would have the exact same wheels, just not the same color

No mention of what winter driving you will be doing.
North Carolina 1/2 inch deep snow? or Colorado, really the roads should be closed?
And of course your budget?
I have 20' spider for summers. and run 18" for winter, on really these roads should be closed road.

I have a set of Pirelli Scorpion Winters which are 19" (I'm looking to sell them so I can buy the exact tire in a 20") but they are simply fantastic. I had Nokians on my S3, and they suck when its wet, and the dry grip level is also terrible. The Scorpion Winters grip better in the wet & dry than the all seasons, and the snow and ice traction is excellent. I highly recommend them!

I have the Pirelli Scorpion Salsa Verdes on mine, I've heard some people calling them "no-season" tires, but they seem to perform pretty well in the ice and snow here in CO. Should I upgrade to a more dedicated winter tire?

Use hakkas on Macan and cayenne. Always have. For what it’s worth Porsche uses them in winter driving courses even though not N rated.

Question Adding topic AutoSocks to this tread

All, the only AutoSock discussion I found was several years old on the Cayenne and other 911 Forums. Given that this thread deals with winter tires, it seems a good place to talk about AutoSocks without starting an entirely new Topic thread. In our Macan S owner's manual its says to put chains on the rears only. Autosocks https://autosock.us/ are not really chains. They are a fabric tire wrap sock. We will be doing high altitude driving over Christmas and snow is always a possibility; want to be prepared. At first I ordered two pair for fronts and rears, but cancelled the fronts after reading the manual. I'm having second thoughts. How do you steer without front traction? Our car has its factory OE Michelin Latitudes with 23000 miles on them. Does anyone have experience to share? Can/should we put them on all 4 wheels? or not? Thanks in advance for your help.

I run the Michelin Alpines on 18 inch BBS wheels on our Macan GTS. I bought the package from Tirerack with TPMS. They work great. Winter tires are valuable even if you don't get a lot of snow. Summer tires don't do well below 40 degrees or so.

I am running 19" aftermarket wheels with Michelin Latitude winter tires in 235 front/255 rear on my GTS. They work well and are comfortable and quiet on paved roads.
