SLM brightness switch

SLM brightness switch
Hello,
I recently bought a MoTeC SLM to connect to and control via my MoTeC SDL.
I want to use a small 3-way stick switch to control SLM's brightness.
Something like pos 1 - 10% brightness, pos 2 - 50% brightness, pos 3 - 90% brightness.
I suppose I have to connect the switch to an input line of my SDL, right ??
Anybody who already done this, and is willing to shed some light into what is needed for a successful installation?
Thanks in advance for your input.

It's controlled via software. There's a preset channel named "SLM Brightness" and you can go to town with varying the value based on inputs/conditions

I know about this channel. I was asking about the input of it.
I wanted to use a switch as input, so I was looking for wiring info of this switch to SDL.

That effectively allows you to software toggle the SLM brightness without bothering with additional switches.

You can easily write a toggle off an existing button. Say hold that certain button for [X] seconds to toggle a user-defined condition from 0 to 1, and have SLM Brightness feed off 600 + (Condition * 600).

I have only one button on my SDL for page change and odo reset, but I can always squeeze another condition for long press.
I still want to know how to connect another switch though, and not a motec switch, just a general purpose 3 positions stick switch.

Solved!!!
Update
Now working like a charm. Used the OEM left steering column multi-switch, getting signal from LIGHTS ON position. Lights on is 1 and lights out is 0.
Interface with SWITCH2 of SDL, controlling different backlight values for SDL and SLM depending upon position of the switch.
When lights out (day) stronger backlight, when lights on weaker backlight values.
