What exactly are the details for the GTC3/4/5 contingency? The only JX2 contingency information I found was for the non-spec classes.

From PCA Club Racing newsletter email, dated 11/7/13:
JX2 Performance Group is proud to be a national sponsor of the Porsche Club of America and as such, we are excited to provide Pirelli racing tires as the spec tire for GTC3, GTC4 and GTC5 classes. Read below for details about 2014.

At Track Support

JX2 will attend at least seven (7) club races in 2014 to provide onsite sales and free tire delivery, mounting and balancing. Here are some notes about our onsite support:
• Our tentative support schedule for 2014 is: Sebring, Road Atlanta, COTA, Watkins Glen, Road America, VIR and Daytona.
• JX2 will also provide onsite support at any club race where at least ten (10) total GTC3-5 cars are registered at least 2 weeks prior to any East Coast event (PCA Zones 1-5, 10, 12 & 13)
• JX2 will provide onsite support at any club race where at least ten (10) total GTC3-5 cars are registered at least 4 weeks prior to any West Coast event (PCA Zones 6-9 & 11)
• For any race that JX2 is not present, we will provide standard ground shipping to the track free of charge
• Pirelli will have engineering support available at each race JX2 attends and JX2 Customer Service will have access to Pirelli engineering support between events.

Contingency

For 2014 Contingency has been tripled over the current contingency program! JX2 will provide contingency in the form of Pirelli race slicks this season. These tires can be earned as follows:
• Contingency will be provided by class (GTC3, GTC4, GTC5) for each points race (2 races) each weekend.
• When 4 or more cars race in a given class, JX2 will pay contingency as follows:
• 1st Place - Two (2) Pirelli Porsche racing slicks
• 2nd Place – One (1) Pirelli Porsche racing slick
• When 2 or 3 cars race in a given class, JX2 will pay contingency as follows:
• 1st Place – One (1) Pirelli Porsche racing slick
• Contingency certificates will be distributed by PCA by event and may be redeemed through JX2 after the event.
• JX2 will provide one set (4 tires) of Pirelli Porsche racing slicks to each of season champions in GTC3-5.
• In addition to this contingency, JX2 and Pirelli will give away a trip for two (2) to a race or automotive event to be given to a participant from 2014 GTC3-5. This trip will include all expenses paid (travel, lodging, food and tickets to the event). PCA will determine the method of selecting the winner. JX2 and Pirelli will determine the location. Stay tuned!

Out of curiosity - where are you guys getting Pirellis OTHER THAN J2X? Bob Woodman? I don't race PCA so I could care less about purchasing them from J2X....especially if there is a better deal elsewhere.

A look at the J2X website shows the costs went up from the above post, at least for GTC5.

275/645-18 DH Slick
$531.00

315/680-18 DH Slick
$610.00

Bob Woodman for the same set is less, of course, by $172.00

275/645-18 DH $510.00

315/680-18 DH $545.00

Just looking for other options, if any exist.

I worked the COTA race as a "Scruit in training" and we did check (randomly) for the JX2 marks on the GTC cars.

Do those 305 rears fit under rear quarters ? I don't have much room and I think lip is already rolled. 997.1 stock is 280

Related query: is there a PCA requirement for Pirelli or JX2 stickers on the car? Still have the Michelin and Jackson Motorsport stuff on.

I was told that we need Pirelli stickers over each wheel and one on the rear deck.
and a JX2 sticker on front of the car.

Chris:

I am expecting a call back from JX2 and will ask them about decals when we speak. Also, anybody know if the required 305/680 rears actually fit an early (2001) six Cup? During the 2001 Supercup series the cars actually ran Pirelli 305/660 which are about 1/2 inch less in overall diameter. Anybody with a 99-2001 actually put these on the car? Probably not an issue but, ???

Thanks.

Ted

The 305/680-18 Pirelli slicks fit my 2001 Cup just fine. No issues. As for the decals, you can get them at your next PCA Club Race. They keep them in the trunks that go from race to race.

Toby:

Glad to hear the 305/680's fit fine.

JX2 tells me that cars should have Pirelli decals front and rear and a JX2 decal up front. Requirements sounded quite vague and they confirmed your statement that they bring decals to the track.

I'm pretty sure the requirement is one over each front tire, one on the rear of the car and the JX2 on the front bumper

That's a lot of real estate....
