OK To Run Michelins If Forego Points?
Does anyone know, if a driver is willing to forego championship points, are we aloud to run Michelin slicks in GTC3 instead of Pirelli?

No authority here, but putting Michelins, or any other ire for that matter, would probably move you from GTC3 to GTA1.

Toby:
Interesting thought. Last year, if we did not run the spec tire (Michelin at the time) we, I believe, could stay in class but would be awarded no pints towards the championship. I have found nothing in this years regs stating either way.

I'm out of my 996 and in a 997 now. Did testing a few weeks ago. The Pirellis are awesome. They do not fall off and get greasy. Stayed consistent all weekend. Give them a chance and follow PMNA specs for your alignment.
You'll thank me.

You can stay in class you'll just officially DNF every race and quali session. So you'll always start from the back etc...if you switch to a legal class you might not be competitive in that class but at least your times and points will count.
I know this because I ran with Pirellis not purchased from JX2 for my first race and I was DQ'd/DNF'd for every session. Started every race last, grid'd for quali last (which really is the only thing that sucked, but since quali time doesn't matter...)

How does PCA know where the tires were purchased and who actually monitors this at an event? I already have some never used Pirelli rains that came with my car and would hate to trash these.
Stu, you say use PMNA Pirelli alignment specs. Do you mean the specs that are in my (2001) owners manual? If not, who at PMBNA should I contact?
Thanks!

If you run Pirelli tires that were not purchased from JX2, the tire sponsor for the GTC spec series, then you will be DQ'd.
Yes, its harsh. But it is the way the economics work since JX2 paid money to PCA and is running a contingency for the spec series.
As Toby said, tires are not spec'd in GTA1.

Use the stock specs as listed in the cup manual IIRC -4.5 frt -4.2 r stock rear toe front toe your preference is a good starting point.
