Default Video: 2005 996 Cup at Buttonwillow

After tiring of accumulating hundreds of in-car videos that consumed numerous portable hard drives, I decided to send some of the files to an editor to compile a track day video.

We had an open test day at Button Willow (run CCW) and shot 7 different views at various times of the day. The following link is the culmination of the editor's efforts. For me, it captured much of the fun times we had that day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpo1k...ature=youtu.be

Next time, we will add a few more shots - from the driver's perspective (mounting a go-pro on the front of the helmet towards the dash), from the trackside perspective(s), the pre-drive preparation, driver and mechanic interview and possibly an aerial with the help of a drone (some pretty cool four rotor copters available that are inexpensive). I will say that is was ALMOST as fun working with the editor to come up with a video clip as it was driving the car.

In any event - enjoy! Comments appreciated!

Very cool camera angles...

Always wanted to try the GP suction cup mount, but apprehensive...I think I will just take a leap of faith next time that it wont bounce loose at Sebring.

We used the suction mounts: 1) on the front nose low; 2) on the roof; 3) on each of the rear quarters; and 4) just behind the driver's front door. No issues whatsoever and Buttonwillow can be rather bumpy (not as bad as T-17 at Sebring, but....). Never a problem with the camera's getting loose or coming off - just make sure you have a good, clean surface.

great vid Thusly - looks like you had lots o fun!
How did you do the foot cam angle? cage mount?
I run a cheap ($10) mic to the camera - cuts out all wind noise - tie mic in engine ebay (gromet in back seat)

never lost one when attached to solid bits - glass, fenders, roof, doors
but plastic bits that bend like bumpers not a good idea! AMHIK

Thanks. You are correct - we used the go-pro roll bar mount connected to the Cup's roll cage.

I agree about the wind noise - editor liked a slightly different sound track.
