Which Motec in 2004 cup?
Hi
Does anyone know which Motec is installed in a 2004 996 GT3 cup car? I presume it is the same as the one in the earlier cars that are "upgraded to 2004 spec"?
Thanks

If I recall all the 996s came with factory analog type dash boards. Looking through my 2005 cup service manual shows this as well. I think some of the cars might have had a motec logger that did not have a display....
99% of the cups out there had some type of Motec or Aim dash put in at some point in their life though. If it was done in the 2004 time frame it would have had a motec ADL dash put in. The RS and RSR cars came factory with a Motec ADL dash.

Here, in France, the 2004 come with the analog dash and the possibility of putting a Motec "Mini" display or an ADL in addition to the analog standard dash. A friend of mine has had his 2004 with an ADL2 added on the analog dash, but most of the so called "upgraded to 2004 specs" as well as the majority of the 2004 cars that we see in there do not have any Motec display.

I believe Cory is correct that the cars did not come from the factory with MoTec however, there was a factory approved installation for the SuperCup and Carrerra Cup which included an enclosed data logger and MDD. If interested i have posted for downloading the installation instructions and the wiring diagram. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/38126505/3M...aCupsystem.ppt and https://dl.dropbox.com/u/38126505/Mo...ranslation.pdf the first link is to a powerpoint document and the 2nd is to a pdf.

Ok. Still got a lot to learn. This is a whole new world for me, coming from street cars.

Checked the files. This is the thing I am talking about!
What type MoTeC is that exactly? I was checking the AIM site to see the compatibility list for their dashboards and I was wondering if the 996 cup MoTeC system is on the list. The Bosch MS3 ECU is.
If you are wondering "why not go for a MoTeC dash instead?". Compare the MXL prices to the MoTeC ones for the same functionality and you'll quickly understand why (and I've been a happy AIM user for many years on both motorcycles and cars).
