Here is a video of what happens when your right rear lets go on the high banks in Nascar 4...... Thankfully no damage to the car and no injuries! This was during testing for the Rolex 24......

Wish I could figure out how to imbed it in a post with out the link... Going to posting videos directly from the race this year.....
Cheers

This is not testing for the Rolex 24, this is a HOD track day in a non-Grand-Am 2008 cup car.
Cheyne, no rubbing at all, probably debris. Michelin N1's on a modest setup.
At least 6 other Porsches lost tires today, some not so fortunate in the damage area.
Grand-Am testing is on Tuesday and Wednesday

Seems to be happening a lot recently. There were a bunch of blowouts there 3 weeks ago during the club event. Jack from the 901 Shop had a tire let go just a touch farther down the track at over 170mph. Scary stuff. Glad to hear Joe and the car are still in one piece.

most tires have specific camber limits and pressures specific to banks. most don't know this and have too much camber or mis-manage pressures and boom... tires blow.

Post incident inspection indicated that there was a cut on the tire that precipitated the failure. It had nothing to do with set up or preparation. We have been tracking data closely, including tire values, and all metrics are nominal.
Debris on the circuit has been an issue, probably because the scrutiny and diligence is not as high during track days as it is during sanctioned events. It's worth noting that the facility management took the unusual step of blowing the circuit last night, not a normal occurrence for this kind of format.

I thought Jack was just behind a Cup that blew a tire.

You're correct. I took another look at Juan's posts about it over on Pelican. I first read it as Juan was behind Jack when it happened. A re-read suggests Jack was in Juan's car co-driving the enduro when some undisclosed driver in a Cup lost a tire.
