Angry Motec shift light modules ... $600!?

You gotta be kidding me right? 8 small light bulbs with a plastic shell and couple wires and a circuit board made in China cost $600!? That's more expensive than a ipad that can I can play video games, surf the net, watch a movie and send monthly payment to PMNA. Unless the SLM is made out of gold infused with titanium it is waaaay over priced!

MoTeC or Porsche expensive? No surprise there. US$5,500 for a 6Cup muffler?

Anyway, I thought the 7Cups had factory shift lights already....

I need the lights up high on top of instrument panel dash board to help me gauge when the wheels are going to lock up and when to shift. Now days I go by feel and sound and not always right ...

I ended up using the big red motec warning light for my lockup indicator... that and the stock orange shift lights work ok for me. Is the steering wheel blocking your view of them? Might be easier/cheaper to relocate them somewhere else on the dash..... but the motec shift light module does look pretty neat with the progressive LED's.

I can understand Porsche tax but couple light bulbs for $600? That is just wrong!

$70K? PMNA quoted $45K for a new engine

I am so tunnel vision now days I hardly peer down at instrument panel level. Good suggestion on relocating the light but the progressive Christmas light tree reflecting engine RPM is very helpful as far as gear changes goes

In my experience, you will guess the engine rpm by listening to the sound with a little more seat time and the existing shifting lights should warn you easily just using your peripheral vision. You should keep your eyes to where you are going anyway. ;o)

The SLM is a lot more than just a shift light. It can be programed in some very useful ways. Brake lock up with it differentiating between front/rear and right/left. Various warning lights. Progressive brake pressure. Pit lane speed indicator. ect.. It is pricey but a good data guy can do a lot with the SLM. Each bulb is a multicolored led.

With a crate like that, they should give you a $5k refund if you return the "core" crate.
