Why not rebuild what you've got?

Yes. Get them on a dyno and rebuild as necessary...

If your stock shocks haven't been rebuilt in a while, just have them rebuilt to the latest spec. If you're running the SACHS shock I know there have been some updates in the valving and they are better than they were.

BINGO! You guys are right on!

I had a long talk with Jay today and the recommendation from several experts such as Glen at GT1 motorsports, Rob at F F F Racing, Mike at 911 Designs and Gary at TRG Motorsports was to rebuild the stock Sach shock to 2011 Cup spec with "better" springs. It is hard for multiple adjustable shocks such as moton or JRZ to match a well build none adjustable Sach shocks with "proper" valve and settings. The whole rebuild with springs cost a fraction of a set of moton or JRZ and will deliver equivalent performance of a fine tuned adjustable shocks. I have also heard that quality on moton and JRZ shocks are not what they used to be.

Stay tune ... will give feedback once everything is done and tested on track

In PCA you can't change the springs in stock GTC4 class. I run in GTA2 as my car is Rolex GT spec so I can change almost anything.

I'd like to know what he meant by "better" springs.

Mike do you run stiffer springs in the GA car? I was told that TRG runs significantly softer springs in their GA cars. True?...

I tried springs that were quite a bit lighter but my car was not working well. Now I am trying 1200 pound springs now, a bit lighter than stock, and they seem to work well. My car has rubbing issues with RSR tires so I can't go too light.

When I saw the TRG guys setting up our IMSA GTC car I could not believe how much the car moved when they bounced it during corner balancing, it's so soft...

Yep I heard they've been running 600/800 at select tracks including Laguna where they are this weekend with ALMS. So how did the car feel on their setup?...

Certainly didn't seem to hinder them today at Laguna. Did you know they (GTC) cars had to run a 62mm restrictor? Guess there lap times were too close to the GT cars....

Give Galen at Werks2 a call. He is in Burbank and has worked closely over the years with Sacks to get them just right for his Cup car.

I can honestly say he is definitely one person who believes in them and knows how to make them work.

I would even go as far to say that he has collected more data then anybody else on and off the track with Sacks shocks.

Curious what the cars weigh in this configuration?
