Default Quaife 997 Cup Gearbox

http://www.parr-uk.co.uk/motorsport/...l-gearbox.html

Now all we need is to get this approved for PCA! Gearbox HAS to be the big reason more people aren't in 997 Cups, or leave early. This Quaife box is half of what a new one from PMNA would be. Ask me how I know!

These guys are looking for a US distributor. Lemme know if you have any thoughts.

David,
As long as the gearing is stock I'd be willing to bet that PCA will go along with it. If you still want to do some IMSA races you better stick to the stock box though.

Who will ask Brian Copans about this?

I will ping Donna on this. Have sent an email to Brian as well. He also reads this forum, so perhaps he will offer some comments if he has any experience.

More info on this box:

1. It's a direct bolt on for the 997 and can also be fitted to 996 Cups with some modification.
2. Quaife gear ratios currently are not stock, but these can be changed to meet series regulations.
3. No performance issues to date. Needs to be serviced after 30 hours, similar to PM box.
4. Servicing and repairs run about 1/2 price of what a PM box does.
5. If they had enough interest, they'd be happy to build a "stock" box in numbers.
6. They are sending me the current gear ratios, which I will post.

The Hollinger is by far a much better choice. The Porsche ones I have seen were un-reliable

If anyone is interested we are going to put together some repair specials for 997 sequentials and 996-993 club boxes over the winter. Offering savings of around 25% with some gear giva-ways to syncro box customers. I have tons of good used gears, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, we allways try to use a new third. We may have a "buy 3 get one free sale". I will have more details after I get back from Laguna. All 06 and 07 cup boxes will need new diff housings, (the cast housings are breaking) and we will offer a special on that as well. Brian

I'm not clear in what way you are speaking about the Quaife box, if at all?

2 things from Donna on this:

1. We've missed the deadline for Rule Change submissions for 2010.
2. There will have to be much more discussion/lobbying from a number of parties to get this considered as they very rarely want to deviate from stock.
