Default Hoosier GT3 Cup slicks

No affiliation, but I saw these on Pelican. Great deal for a set of barely used cup tires:

Lap times are about the same at VIR and LRP on my cup car. The fronts on the Hoosiers are bigger and work better (cornering, braking) than the Michelin fronts. They feel different and may work better with less camber.

I use the 250/650 frnt (R80) and 280/680 rear (R100) and they are excellent on the GTC4 car. I can't wait to try the bigger ones on the GTA2 car!

I tried the Hoosiers and the Michelins at Sears Point two weeks ago. The Michelins were at least 1 second a lap faster, but the more important difference was wear. The Hoosiers inside edges were completely worn away after 2 / 3 cycles. I talked with Hoosier about it and have not been able to resolve the problem yet. I know of two other people with the same problem.

Richard I got 13 HC's out of the Hoosier slicks I raced with at Miller. I've got stock shock mounts up top, so my max neg camber is something like -3.5 front, -2.8 rear. They were practice tires after Miller (6 HC's), but they lasted a long time in practice...

I've had a similar problem with Yokos but could be the tire size 320/650 or some other issue. I'm down to -1 camber on the left rear at Willow! Still haven't resolved the issue. Of course, we have completely different cars (I think).
What R U driving these days, Richard?

John - Hoosier brought you up and mentioned how many heat cycles you got. Don't know why I am having the problem, but I know two other people who have the same problem. It could be a toe-in issue.

John (inrsf) - I am driving my 993 Supercup. I really like driving it better than my 996 Cup - in fact I put my 996 up for sale. The Hoosier problem does not seem to be related to camber. I do run a lot of camber (4.0 in the front and 3.5 in the rear) - the Michelins like it, but I should run less for the Hoosiers but the wear problem I am having is not related to the camber. Hoosier mention the toe-in as a potential problem. I run between 3mm and 5mm toe-in in the rear and they think that might be the problem. We will see.

3mm or 5mm??? How are you measuring it. On a BBS 18" rim, measuring from rim outer edge to rim outer edge, 2.02mm = 15minutes of toe. We run 2mm of toe in in the rear.

Measuring from outer edge to outer edge. Depending on track I run between 3 and 5mm total toe in at the rear.
