Default 2010 Cup

Any news or rumours on what changes are due? I have a friend considering an '08 or '09 Cup but he wants to wait until the 2010 comes out (which means he's going to miss MOST of this year's racing!).

My guess:
New facelift front and rear bumper and tailights. (like the 2010 gt3 street)
3.8l (like the gt3 street)
Inverted tranny (like the RSR's use now)

Every year it is rumored it is going to be paddle shift but I would guess we would see that on the RSR first and the cup the following year.

Also unless he commits to a IMSA or Grand Am effort I doubt he will be allocated a car. Big demand for the 2010 car, large wait list. This brings up an interesting subject , PCA is either going to class the car as GTC4, or GTC5 depending on competitors input primarily because of the 3.8.

Probably be more fun as a GTC4 car and I bet the early cars will be competitive when well driven but I am sure there willl be several who don't feel its fair and will push for a seperate class, of course then the 2010 wont have many to race against and the early cars can always make the engine update under update backdate...

I don't care as I left the GTC camp awhile back and have gone off the deepend now...thoughts everyone?

Keep it in 4 and if it has more HP (20hp?), give it a higher minimum weight.

That would be great, but I THINK our GTC4 cars are way over the spec weight... but I have not weighed mine so not sure.

How are you setting the car up then? Wouldn't you think corner balance and ride height to be one of the more important setup factors?

Funny you say that Mike cuz we are working on the diagonals on my car now and find that we have an extra 100 lbs or so vs. min GTC4 weight. I was wondering where that weight came from (it aint me!).

Cup cars are notoriously porky. Having said that I was .5 kgs light going through pre-race tech at the last IMSA race. The scrut handed me a Gatorade and I passed.

But I thought they would have got the min. weight from whatever the factory spec was and when we weighed the car I said it must be wrong and we weighed it again. And that was WITHOUT the 30 lbs from the Coolsuit added in!

Same here, you cant sign up for allocation in 2010 if you don't drive the SuperCup.
Do IMSA or Grand Am have allocation for the car for 2010?!
