Pictures of Cup Car Cages wanted
I'm looking to build my 996 to compete in PCA stock class and couldn't find any good pictures of the Cup car cages. Can anyone either direct me to some or post some?
Also, do the cage dimensions exist anywhere? I'd like to supply this to any potential cage builders so that I start off with a solid platform.
Thanks in advance.

Bill,
One of these best cage builders around is up here @ MSR, Todd Oppermann who owns TOPP Racing. He's built a bunch of cages including several that were cup spec. PM me for his contact info.

I second what Jay said. I remember one cage that Todd did a couple of years ago for a 993. It was a mimic of the cup car style. It turned out fantastic. I have tested one of his cages with a concrete wall and walked away. The only thing is there is usually a waiting line for one of his cages.

CHris, Jay and Barry, thanks for the replies.
Basically my thoughts are, "why reinvent the wheel". After all, the cage for the cup car is already on the 996 platform and is engineered for that platform. What I basically want is a cage that also looks top notch. I want the cage to look like it came from the factory with the cage in it. Welds right, fit right and finish right. I'm not looking for no stinkin' $2,500 erector set.
Anyone locally in Houston that may have Todd's work?

Bill,
That's what you will get with Todd. His cages fit very tight & he has 996 cups in his shop to reference. He was putting a cup style cage in Lee Wilkins' car a few weeks ago when I was @ MSR & I can tell you he definitely spends the time to make it look/perform like a factory cage.

Here are some pics of what Todd's work looks like in my old 993. Cage was a copy of the 993 Cup cage...I owned a 993 Cup too, so I can say he replicated it pretty close to original. Sprayed to match exterior also, top notch work.

Don't forget about me, I still would like to see pics of the cup car cages. Especially the attachment points, how it goes through the dash, any knee bars and the door protection.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. The one from the bulk head to the shock tower looks like it is for front crash safety.
Any Knee Bar or bar under the dash?
How does the cage run through the dash and how closely does it follow the pillar?

There is no bar that runs thru the dash, the 2 997 pictures are just under the dash. They tie in at the firewall to a horizontal bar that I guess is supposed to act as the knee bar. The cage just comes down by the front of the door and then terminates, on the 996 there is nothing in the front trunk area at all.
