Default 996 Cup Car Race/Qual/Rain Switch

Can someone explain to me which cars have this switch? My '05 has the switch, but I noticed that many others do not. Is it integrated with the Motec system that came with the car?

Learning more and more everyday about Cups and less about M3s...

Is this the switch that just changes your Motec display or does it actually change performance? If so, I want one!

The switch contols the map in the Bosch 3.1 Motorsport ECU. It changes the AFR and performance of the engine.

I don't see it in the manual. Where is this switch?

Porsche GT3 Cup Technical Information 03 / 2003

2003/2002 GT3 Cup Bosch MS 3.1 ECU

The 2002/2003 GT3 Cup wiring harness and engine management system has been updated to the 2002/2003 GT3 RS specification. Included in the new wiring and management system are the following options (that come standard with the GT3 RS), which you can install:

1) Pit lane speed limiter – Requires a two-position switch with one side going to ground and the other wired up to pin # 30 on the white 30-pin plug beside the drivers seat.

2) Map position switch – This will allow you to run the car with 3 different fuel settings.

Map #1 – 0.88 Lambda, max. power, qualifying map, high fuel consumption
Map #2 – 0.91 Lambda, normal setting
Map #3 – 0.94 Lambda, low power, rain/pace car map, fuel conservation

The option will require a 3-position switch. Wire output #1 on the switch needs to go to pin # 25 on the black 30-pin plug beside the drivers seat, wire output #2 to ground, and wire #3 to pin #24 on the black 30-pin plug.

3) Shift light – One wire to pin # 8 on the black 30-pin plug, this will be the switched ground. The other wire can be spliced into a 12V power wire from one of the other dash lights.

4) Motec Dash – Motec has been provided with a CAN template from Porsche for most engine parameters. When installing a dash the best place to tap into the CAN signal will be the 5 pin round Autosport connector located next to the ECU (passenger side seat location). Pin # 4 (CAN high) and pin # 5 (CAN low). The oil pressure gauge wires will have to be routed separately into the Motec dash. Please contact Motec for the connector and the template.

Switches and pin connectors can be ordered directly through PMNA. Once the options have been installed, please send the ECU and a specification sheet with the gear ratios, front and rear tire diameter or circumference, desired pit lane speed, and desired shift light to:

That MAP switch sounds cool, did not know they were so easy to add or I would have put one on my '04 which did not have it. I wonder if they are legal in various series?

I did not know I had a pit lane speed limiter until I went on the track the first time and accidentally bumped the cruise control stalk... Road Atlanta takes a LONG time at 40MPH...

My car came with the switches installed with "qualify", "race", and "caution" mode...now it makes sense how I've been able to keep up with some of you guys.

I will have to run in qualify vs. race mode and see if I notice any real difference.

Kev is that barrys old car?
So far we have only found that rain makes a big difference but the race/qualify dont seem to make any noticable difference.

That's what I figured.
