SCRS, one of the coolest factory built cars from the 3 litre carrera era!

Well Andial was Porsche Motorsports of North America at the time the conversions were done, to call them clones seems to be a slight that is undeserved. There were 45 USA cup cars build, 25 were converted to race trim as far as I know all 25 were converted back to street trim ad sold as street car. I own #6 which was reconverted back to race trim by Andial, I don't know how many were reconverted by Andial Vs. "random" shops. My car was originally purchased by Kelly Moss Motorsports I would assume they had good reason to send car to CA and not do the conversion themselves. I don't know the differences in US Vs European race trim for 964 Cup cars. All I know mine is a damn fast race car in my fairly inexperienced hands.

More than one was converted to Cup specs by Andial as the last conversion. It does seem to make some Euro Cup people question the few US Cups, so lets say they aren't real Cups so they can sleep well. Take them off of the above list if that is preferred, as it matters not to me.
It does seem to me that it is important to consider the Company's intent when a car was produced and ready for sale, no matter where it was manufactured/finished. |
would the C4 RS Lightweight count?

Or is the definitive criterion the presence of a Motorsports VIN from Porsche?

I say the US cups are real Cups. They were built for a series that never happened right ? I say they stay on the list Just my 2 cents

Perhaps in the official grey zone, still the U.S Cups belongs to this forum I'd say.

http://rpmsportscars.com/door25.htm I think so: - They were build at Weissach. - They used competition parts. - They have very specific chassis numbers: 964 001 to 964 020. You can add a lot of cars to the original list: 550 356 Carrera 718 904 906 907 908 909 911 ST 911 2.7 RS 911 2.8 RSR 911 3.0 RS 911 3.0 RSR 934 935 914/6 GT 917 924 Carrera GTS 924 Carrera GTR 944 GTR Samuel |
Seems to me the C4 RS was built soley for the collector market at the time. I don't recall a series for which they would have been suited.
I did see one of them being built at Weissach, and it seemed to me to be a way of offloading the spares left over from the Typ 953 Paris Dakar 4 wd cars. I could b wrong though. |
there is a new class emerging in WRC. In tarmac rallies there will be GT class, early declared candidates are Porsche and Aston Martin. These 911s could end up as highly desirable cars and very fast indeed.

There was no racing series for them. It was not designed to be street legal so I think it will qualify as a "never raced racing car" ;) Samuel |
How come the 996 RS makes the cut but the 997 RS does not?

I've never heard of a 909. Not saying there wasn't one, just never heard of it. I have heard of a 910 though.
