any of you guys running turbos ??? i'm also thinking of a boxster turbo project...
i've never much liked boxsters... but I DO LIKE CAYMAN's...
on the 4 cylinder P-car forums such talk is blasphemy, but, is this combination so easy to ignore ?
consider all the upgrades so many do on the 4-cylinder cars, and the high costs of purchase and upkeep of a typical 928... the boxster comes pretty good from the factory, no rust, no crappy electrical failures lying in wait, no thrust bearing failures, or so many other problems....
boxster w/ 60 k miles... $ 9 k. turbo, $ 8 k. = $ 17 K plus about $ 1.5 k for the install = about $ 20 k.

i'm trying to figure out if boxster engines are desirable for such a project. are they as bad as 996 n/a's ?

You guys want a mid-engine platform that will outrun anything on the track and is proven durable? You have 2 choices:
(1) Porsche CGT, or for a step up, you can buy this.
(2) http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...r_3/index.html
Have fun.

CP,
you're not gonna believe it, but, last year i brought this up on the 944 forums -- that 944 turbos were no longer as desirable due because of the Cayman/Boxster Turbo cars that from TPC and whomever decided to offer a kit.
you spend 30 or 40 grand and you still end up with a dated, '80's 944 car worth about $ 15 k vs the Cayman or Boxster supercar that would be a 0-150-0 superstar.
i was stoned to death for posting the following thread:

Is it possible that what was seen and heard is the test mule for the next gen Cayman, which supposedly might have a turbo charged 4 cylinder engine, as per the article below?
