Did you get yours with your RUF build, or did you pick them up from Champion directly?
My RUF car came with RUF wheels that the original owner had chromed. I really like the RUF wheel style, especially on a RUF car, but they were way too heavy and the inside barells were starting to pit. They're now owned by a guy in Texas that runs them on a Boxster I think.
I bought the Champions brand new from John at Wheel Enhancement (but know Tom at Champion as well) and ran them in the original silver finish for a couple years, but I don't personally like it when wheels match the car body color (except in white for some reason) and I also don't like black wheels as all the wheel detail gets lost. With a GT Silver car, that doesn't leave me a lot of finish options - LOL - so I had the Champions custom polished and then clear powdercoated so I don't have to keep polishing them for them to remain shiny. You lose a little of the polished radiance with the clear powdercoat, but the reduction in maintenance is worth it to me.
Versus the chromed RUF wheels, I saved 10 lbs of unsprung weight per corner, which really transformed how alive the car handles. Then took that up a couple more notches later on with the further suspension mods - Bilstein's, RSS, DSC, etc. Swapped the PCCBs from my wife's car too, which also reduced a few lbs and completely eliminated brake dust.
The RS171s pop up used from time to time. I think maybe there was a NB set in black listed or bumped in the past month either here or on 6speed. Anyway, good luck with your search.
RS171s were made in both NB and WB fitments. Both are 11.5" in the rear but the offsets are different. The NB offset, like those installed on my car, is an et62.
Full front and rear specs are.
Front - 19" x 8.5" with 53mm offset
Rear - 19" x 11.5" with 62mm offset
GT3 NB wheels are actually 12" for the rear (et 68). As long as the offsets are correct, these wider than 11" wheels fit fine. I'm lowered on coil overs with my RS171s too and no rubbing issues at all.
