Default Idiot Light

A question for the board. The passenger airbag is off warning light on the overhead console never goes out when no one is sitting in the passenger seat. I have a 2012 Panamera S with 3000 miles on it. I've spoken to the dealer and they tell me this is normal and the same on all Panameras. Other cars I've owned this light turns off after the usual test cycle on start up. This light is annoying, especially at night. This is my first Porsche so I'm not familiar with all their peculiarities. Do your Panameras do the same thing? Thank you.

Try removing the console and applying a piece of electrical tape over the light. Worked for me on my M5.

That light is not on my UK spec 2012 car. Is it only for the American market?

So far as I understand , yes. The reasoning behind it's use escapes me, the explanation must be linked to the need for government types to make their presence known. Much like dogs enjoy fire hydrants.

i have a 2011 PanS and that light does turn off after the startup cycle. sorry to hear about your light problem, but i'm not surprised given all the other electrical/PCM design flaws.

On my 2011 Pan4, the light stays on after the startup cycle, so is mine or yours not normal?
