Default Replace front parking/surround camera

Anyone done this? I noticed the lens cover glass is pretty pitted and it shows up on the camera a little. Sort of a case of "if it's too hard or expensive just ignore it." But I thought I would ask - how hard/expensive to replace this $10 camera? DIY guides welcome!! Forum search didn't produce anything.

Added - I am seeing a Macan forum thread with replacement taking 1/2 hour and no calibration required. Need to confirm the part number but they are using 5Q0 980 546A. Knockoff available for $50 on eBay

You will probably need to remove the front bumper to replace it. Also there is no coding if its just a surround view camera and no night vision.

Thanks..can you expand on the "probably?" Is it by year, options, or tool availability as to whether it is possible or not? I admittedly haven't looked too closely yet as I have another project going on, what circumstances would require bumper removal?

What year is your car? If its a Gen 2 the bumper will have to come off. There are screws holding the holder for the camera to the bumper grill. Also if you haven't replaced the air filter in a while you can do that as well since the bumper has to come off for that as well

Removing the bumper cover is pretty easy. Visiblle screws on top and bottom of the bumper cover, and one on each side behind the wheel liner. There is a latch on each side (on top) that you need to slide them out. Harnesses (electrical, headlight washer) are on the driver side only. To aid the re-install, I highly recommend removing one headlight (also very easy).

If you end up removing the bumper cover, you might as well replace the air filter that’s right in front of you.

I have been meaning to do this with my 971.1 Turbo (non Sport design bumper, but I do have night vision assist for more room) -- for me there is enough room in the grille spacing for me to stick my hand in and feel around. I was able to unplug the connector and feel the torx heads. I have the same part 5Q0 980 546A, superseded by PAB-980-546 according to online parts sites and I verified the part numbers on PETKA.

This is on a non-Turbo, non-Sport design bumper for reference, it may be harder here since there is less space in that grille:

Here's the housing for the camera on 971.1s at least.

I did this today, was able to R/R the front camera without taking the bumper off. Two T30 screws from behind.

Amazon has these for cheap -- 5Q0980546A
