Turbo Left front drive axle stub loose- Service parts available?
Hello all,
I'm looking for a breakdown of part number 970 349 021 03, Left Front Engine carrier-
Specifically a part number for the bearing located within the housing. I have the means of pressing the old one off the shaft, I just don't want to tear it all apart just to find I will be waiting weeks to find a bearing.
Any help is appreciated!

Just a follow-up on this-
I confirmed the bearing is all that failed and the bearing is available through Napa for around $75.
The numbers on the OE bearing are 6006 and d076-0229.HB manufactured by ***.
The local Napa guy was able to cross this.
I hope this helps someone out there.
Good luck!

It isn't an easy replacement, but I was able to do it without removing the whole housing from the engine, which saved me about 6 hours of disassembly and a very happy customer!

Remove the flange and the inside clip, reinstall the flange, use an air hammer on the back of the flange and push it out.
Getting it back in was tricky. I welded the outer diameter of the old bearing to a cone bearing in order to seat the new bearing in the housing.

My GTS has some play in the right flange and I'm pretty sure it's a bearing problem, so now I'm all set for the replacement.
Thank you!

Jeremy, what brought you to the flange bearing? Have you noticed a play in a bearing or was it knocking sound during the ride? How does it go after bearing replacement?
Asking because no-one can't localise knocking in a front suspension. Replaced air-struts, lower control arms, sway bar etc. Upper control arms (but they look fine) and right flange bearing are left only.

They put it on a lift, assessed the situation, and had an idea of where it was coming from. His shop was too busy to tackle the job, brought it to me. I put it on the lift, put it in gear and climbed underneath... That flange was loose as a goose!! Confirmed the flange was the only bit that was moving, and assumed bearing... What else would it be? Hunch was correct, customer ordered the assembly just to send it back. $75 bearing and 6 hours labor was better than $1500 assembly and 10+ hours to drop the subframe.
I put about 15 miles on it before customer picked up. He drove it at least 15 miles home on the highway. Last I talked to him it's still just sitting in his parking lot.

In mine, on the left side, the bearing is in good condition. The play is in the spline.
On the right side there is also a little play but I haven't disassembled it yet to know what the reason is.
Excuse my English language, I'm from Spain.

Is there any knocking noise in suspension on small bumps?
#15
No. This causes some vibrations but no noise. If you have noises at low speeds and with some small irregularities in the asphalt and you cannot find the cause, it is the shock absorber rod (in cars with air suspension). These take play and it sounds in the mentioned conditions.
