Wheel Size Question
I have a'12 Turbo and am looking for a more aggressive looking summer set of wheels. Looking at Victor Equipment Wheels Zuffen Matte Black, however it seems difficult to find 21x9 for the front, but 21x10.5 and 21x11 are available. Advice appreciated if I should just order 21x9 or are the other two sizes OK?
Also looking at 255/35ZR21 and 305/30ZR21 tires.
Help appreciated.
John

I would think that 21x9 or 21x9.5 is readily available, 991 folks run these and common with Panameras also
I don't think I've seen anyone here with 10.5 in the front yet. It may be a stretch mounting 255 tires on to 10.5, but not impossible if you're going for that look. This will have your tire sidewalls curve in. However, might be odd looking having a different look on the rear and normal non-stretch at 305 on a 11. My rough estimate and at a more aggressive fitment than stock, you would need to be around 55-60 offset in the front with 10.5 and 255 tires to clear the front fender...but you would need to verify if it will not rub on the inner part at full turns or if it would clear the struts. I can possibly take a look sometime this week and take measurements if needed.
Your best bet is to find 21x9 or 21x9.5 with around 40-46mm offset if you want to run 255/35

I considered 21” vs. 22” for my summer set-up. In the end I went with 22’s. Great look and ride is surprisingly good despite the low profile sidewall. Road condition should likely be a consideration when going with low profile sidewalls and roads around me are in good shape. I have Modulare wheels and run:
rear: 315/25/22
front: 265/30/22
I have OEM 20’s for the spring/fall and another set of OEM 20’s for winter. The ride and clearance is definitely better on 20’s but the look of the 22’s can’t be beat!

Burning Brakes
Personally stock wheels are preferred over oddball after market sizes. On the Panamera the 20” wheels are the best choice considering comfort and also reliability on long road trips. The Panamera is not a track car or anything like a “race” car as it is a four door lumbering sedan that drives better on the road than say a Mercedes S560. The problem with 21” or worse 22” wheels is that the probability of a flat tire or sidewall crack increases exponentially as the size of the wheel increases. Personally I don’t want to deal with a flat tire at night on a long stretch of highway. In California we only need one set of wheels and 20” wheels are ideal as they provide a nicer ride in this luxury saloon on freeways and reduce jarring bumps on uneven roads and with the increased rubber sidewalk- the first part of the suspension - greatly increased tire sidewall cracks and importantly damaged wheels from a pothole or a unseen speed bump. Turning a classy sophisticated Panamera into a Gang members Chevrolet Impala with 22” wheels and likely spinners in the wheel centers seems out of character. But then at 71 I don’t like the black wheel craze either as these wheels look unfinished to my eye.

Thanks all for the input. The tire selection is by far greater in 20" and 22" so I'm leaning to just go with 20" as the highways are good but not great in central PA. I'll keep my 19" with all season tires for fall/winter driving.. I have other cars and a truck and wouldn't think of driving it in the snow.

Not a gigantic amount, but some wheel picture threads below. Some stock sizes on the 971 are 21's, I imagine they should be durable enough for those terrible roads and potholes.

Thanks Deezflip, the more I look at cars with the 21" I like the look way better than 20" setup. I emailed Victor Equipment to see the availability of 21x9 or 9.5 for the fronts since 10.5 or 11 for the rear are far easier to find.

Deezflip,
One other question. if I go with Victor Equipment Zuffen will this setup work with the offsets and I shouldn't need any spacers?Front: Victor Equipment Zuffen 21x9 +47
Rear: Victor Equipment Zuffen 21x11 +40
or is this a better option?Front: Victor Equipment Zuffen 21x9 +47

I was running slighty wider tires in the rear with 315 on 21x11 +41 and it was rubbing when the suspension dipped on the road. Now running at +49, no rubbing.
with yours slighty narrower at 305, my +49 at 315 would equal to about +44. i can’t say for sure but it will be close to rubbing with +40. If the wheel dealer says it will clear, I’d go with it. Otherwise, safer bet is no lower than +44
the front should be ok and I’m running at 265 at +40, you can even run 21x9 +35 with 255 but being at +47 should be fine

Use this calculator...
https://tiresize.com/calculator/
I just try to come closest to the difference ratio from front to rear with the stock sizes for traction/slip control...which is .4% difference
Overall I'm running about 1.1% increase in the speedometer.
60mph - 60.2mph front
60mph - 60.6mph rear

Is that based on the Porsche 21" recommended tire size for Panamera Turbo @ 255/35ZR21 and 305/30ZR21 or the tire sizes I'm looking at?
