The orange yellow tube in the diagram above is a built in structure. Instead of inserting a flexible hose all the way into that “tunnel” and fill and spill, the adapter allows you to attach the hose and fill the transmission without any spill. That’s it. When oil level exceeds the upper end of the orange yellow tube, it flows back out.
To me, Porsche over complicated this procedure by having the fill hole at the bottom instead of on the side.
gotcha…so it’s a plug within a plug type set up. So technically I could still use a hand pump without the fill adapter, it’ll just be messy.

I recently purchased a 2010 970 Turbo with only 27k miles. According to the service records, the PDK was serviced 4 years ago at 15k miles. Based on the recommended 60k service interval, I certainly shouldn’t be thinking of another service, however, does the lubricant have a shelf life that I should be concerned about. I’m thinking this is why the previous service was performed at only 15k.

For me, I always go by mileage. I never really believed in “time” interval maintenance but that’s just me.

this is not medicine, the oil will last longer than everyone on this forum. The main cause for degradation is heat. If I were you, I will wait till another 30k miles to change it.
If you keep the car in a garage and it isn't subject to heat /cold /rain I would be comfortable with milage for service intervals . If it lives outside and is driven daily more care goes a long way !
so if the fluid is supposed to leak out of from 4, can’t you just fill from there instead of 3?
Theoretically, you could do that. But on 971 panamera, there is so little space to untighten or tighten the plug 4. It will be much easier just use pressure pump and atf adapter 105.
