Hello, everyone, for those of you who have 2020+ 971.2 Panamera with PCM5 system, it is really good news that you can fully utilise your wide screen for CarPlay display just like PCM6 on 2022 model.

I have post another thread in Cayenne section as well, because PCM5 has been equipped on Macan, 992, Cayenne and Panamera in past few years, and all Porsche owners feel annoyed about just 2/3 display on CarPlay screen

For those of you trying to know more about this from technical prospective, you can search the post from my personal account "dark power", it has in depth detailed info about how this project was developed from day one.









Android auto :





There is an other full screen option you can choose






it leave the bar on top and right side of the screen

However you can see the difference is that icon is really small as it just stretched horizontally which really strange resolution 1772x600

For a lot of app won’t show content properly as below :



You can see that only shows half content at bottom due to this stretched resolution

With 1920x720 resolution, you can have all content showed no issue at all



For the whole screen 1920x720 full HD will not have such issue at all

You may ask how to access the car menu in full HD 1920x720 mode

1.the button on the left doesn’t give you any good features except the shortcut to go to any sub menu

2. to do that, you either press the Porsche log in CarPlay screen to get back to main menu or any physical button just below the screen



Click tie icon you will get back to main car menu

And any buttons below the screen will dose exactly the same as the bar on the left of the screen





Anyway I can do both, so just try to explain which one is better

You can choose whichever you like, Both options are available







The activation is really simple all you need to have:

1. Computer with widows os and team viewer installed
2. A cheap USB network card and be found from eBay or amazon
3. A sd card

If you are a technical person you can also try to use our automate online tool to do it by yourself.

For those of you have got 2017+ 971.1 Panamera, we are still working hard on this PCM4.1 system, hopefully, we can get some good solution in term of the full screen CarPlay display.

We are specialising VAG group head unit for past few years and especially made the success on the PCM5 software development area, so that can optimise the UI to show better resolution as it should.
For your confidence, have served more than 500 cars over past 6 months and this number will speak by themselves than thousands words

Hopefully I can have solution soon
But android auto can be activated on your one

many thanks for sorting out my cayenne s, 2019 model.
Paid for the full screen option + Android.
Seems to also be getting wireless CarPlay on top as well.

Took about an hour, fully remote and at a bargain price.

@innovativesoft just upgraded my 2018 Panamera’s CarPlay screen into an “HD whole screen” one in just an hour once all the necessary software and hardware are ready.
It looks and works awesome, much appreciated and highly recommended!

Upgraded my 2018 by myself with just SD card and no additional hardware, that is, no USB Ethernet adapter required, nor opening TeamViewer for anyone anywhere. Of course you need to be able to copy files to SD card, and follow few steps, but in the end, it only took like 1 hour and cost nothing as I had the SD card available.

yes, that is a public solution for pcm4.1 and only works for full screen, if you read closely you will see the resolution is completely different!
whole screen has higher resolution and the sd card you have will not work for PCM5.

Also you can read that patch is patching address 0xba0000 on RCC board which will allow to patch the MIBRoot application.

if you read my post, you will see that solution will need to add fake FEC code for activating android auto.
this will have a risk for void the warranty.
(The 00609 FEC code will be added in your activation code list which is not suppose to have)
