Recently had my 970.2 GTS at the dealer for two rear tire replacements (nail punctures) and also to refinish the front passenger side wheel.
When they mounted the front passenger side they also put on a brand new tire. Is it standard practice not to remount the tire that was already on the wheel? It wasn't no where near bald with the tread measuring 7/32. I know tires should be replaced in sets so I was really just looking to get a new set for the rears and run the fronts as they were since they still had good life in them.
How problematic is it to run one new tire at 10/32 and the driver side at 7/32? Or is the difference/impact negligible?
it is standard practice for Porsche to to replace the tire when it's punctured. You have to take it to a tire shop if you would prefer a patch, assuming the puncture is an an area that can be patched.

This tire had no damage it was the two rears that were in to be replaced due to punctures.
The front one went in for the wheel to be refinished. I assumed that they would reinstall the same tire that was on since it had no damage but they replaced it with a new tire in error i imagine.
the only time I have had that happen (a tire replaced w/o my auth..) was when the tire shop destroyed the tire taking it off. The bead stuck to the rim. They replaced it, but it was on their dime - not mine. Like I said, they did an unauthorized repair and that's illegal unless you signed something stating that they could do $x worth of work before notifying you
Got it. Did they replace the other tire on the same axle on their dime as well?
I didn't authorize the repair and they also didn't bill me for the new tire. Basically an oversight by the tech grabbing a new tire instead of the one that was already on it. At this stage the service advisor is telling me that because the other tire is within the 30% differential that I'm good and it won't have any negative impact. Wondering if i really should be pushing them to change out the other tire as well on their dime.
If you have 3 new tires now, you should go ahead and replace the 4th. Other wise you’ll have a never ending issue of replacing individual tires off cycle.
When I have to replace one tire I have it shaved to match the other 3 to prevent this.
I agree with 123shifter. Tires are wear items, not usually warranrty items. You got 3 free tires and sohuld easily rationalize getting a 4th on your own dime to have a matched set. Keep the ued left front as a possible road hazard repalcement for one of those new fronts down the road a couple of years.
