Gee I'd happily apply the $750 toward an extended warranty on my Turbo

But maybe it's 4S only.

My letter said "Certain 2017-2018 model year Panamera 4S complimentary software update."

Just go the letter as well - it seems like it's for ALL 4S models 2017-2018 (I know it says "certain"). Also, the $500/$750 is issued by Porsche N.M. after the service (you submit proof of service and wait for the credit). Also interestingly, the letter says that your MPG increases from the update; weird that they are compensating for a benefit? I'd still love for someone to confirm that they aren't lowering HP with this update like they did on some diesel-gate models.

Mine says it will result in "marginally higher fuel consumption (23 mpg to 22 mpg combined).". That is directly from the letter. I think you may be right in that "certain" may very well mean all of them. Here is a database showing certifications ----> https://www.epa.gov/sites/production...4-present.xlsx that does not show any mid year changes for Panamera in 17 and 18 which makes what "certain" means interesting. The 17 and 18 Panamera 4S were 21/28 and 23 combined. The 19 Panamera went 18/26 21 combined. Shifting quality was widely complained about in the earlier models and somewhat improved in later models although (IMO) still poor for a car with performance chops. Notice the letter says the "engine and transmission control unit software" will be updated leading to "improvements to drivability, shifting comfort, and optimization of the onboard diagonstic (OBD) system in order to help avoid unwarranted error messages when there is no system fault." One can hope that the cars tendency to push toward higher gears too soon is ameliorated somewhat and that the drive will actually improve. Or it could be on the other end of the spectrum and the car is going to lose both performance and economy. That's why I took the time to call about it and see if I could determine exactly what it changes; could be I want to take a pass on it...

Can someone post the letter or the info on contacting Porsche about the compensation after the service has been completed. Lost my letter but had the service done.

No. Look the same as the one I had. Just needed the info on who to contact to file a claim for the compensation. Did it last night. All you have to do is upload a copy of your bill/receipt and select which compensation you want. Free money? I will take it every time.

Lol, sorry, I should have been more specific: Does the car drive differently?

Didn't drive it after service as they had a problem connecting to my PCM. They gave me a loaner and switch the cars out the next day. I just went out for a spin and it seems like the first to second gear change is a little smoother. The second to third is quick and smooth. I would say it is upgrade from how it was but not super noticeable accept the first to second gear shifts.

Ok, thanks. Mine was just finished and I can notice very little change, so little I'm not sure if I'm making it up in my mind by paying more attention to it than previously and simply noting what was always there or if it is genuinely different. It's not worse so I guess I'm going to move this into the needless worry category and try and figure out if there is a part I want to buy or just expend the 750 in the service department.

I see that there are lot of Panamera 4s owners in this thread, so I want to ask you does your car have sometime vibrations at idle in Normal driving mode? My 2018 4s have and maybe this is something in common with this update?
