If you are handy with computers there are several ways to make a PIWIS II. You need only purchase the VCI which sells for $350 An SSD with the software sells for $120 if you are not handy. Just boot from an external SSD and voila! Many people have created a virtual machine on their PC's using VM ware then loaded the PIWIS II image onto that virtual machine. The are step by step instructions on the internet to do this IF you have the ability to create a VMware virtual machine and can add a disk image to it, then that is the way to go. I did find the PIWIS II disk image files online for free. $750 gets you a Panasonic CF30 laptop,.the VCI and cables and a nice carrying case but that isn't needed
how would I start the piwis software ?
Thanks in advance!

You will see a message on the screen telling you that you have insufficient voltage and it will prompt you to connect a power supply. I built my own power supply unit (PSU) using a computer server PSU. It works perfectly and was crazy inexpensive to build.

Can you just post a clear picture of how the PSU with computer PSU looks? Just to get an idea . . . and headstart on building one. thx

[QUOTE=vkb123;17658812]I did a step-by-step DIY on how to make your own PSU some time ago. I posted it on 6speedonline.com. Search under my username. It works brilliantly

I followed his DIY and built one - it does work Brilliantly![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

This PSU set-up is for coding work using a PIWIS. Intensive PIWIS work uses a lot of power. Full details can be found in my 6speed post.
A CTEK or similar set-up is great for daily battery maintenance. Like you, I use a Porsche Charge-o-Mat Pro connected to the cigarette lighter for this purpose. My original battery works perfectly because of this!

but for programming, another power source is required, I have a temporary solution and I also plan to assemble the power supply according to the instructions

Is the PIWIS the only option for coding / reconfiguring factory settings?
I want to remove the limitations for using CarPlay while driving and enable Rear Daytime Running Lights. However, don’t know if I want to spend 1,100 - 1,200 to make those changes in my 2019 Cayenne.

If you already have a laptop, the cost is well bellow $1000
Search for PIWIS at garageforum.org, Belauto seems to be the preferred vendor-

I'm looking to disable the Auto Start/Stop feature, on a 2019 Cayenne (Base 3.0T) without the Chrono package? Or perhaps default the car to Sport mode. Can this tool/software accomplish this? Thanks in advance.
