Default Bermester System - “Illuminated by Optical Wave Guides”

Hey guys, pulled the trigger on a 2018 Panamera 4S that had the Bermester system. The description on Porsche’s webpage says “The loudspeakers in the doors are illuminated by optical waves guides.”

Can someone with the system tell me what this means? I thought the speaker grill or something maybe illuminated but the only illumination I see is from the ambient lighting package option I have.

Thanks for any input.

Doesn't matter. THE BURM is worth it!! Never going back to Bose.

From Wikipedia: =leftAn optical waveguide is a physical structure that guides electromagnetic waves in the optical spectrum. Common types of optical waveguides include optical fiber and rectangular waveguides.=leftOptical waveguides are used as components in integrated optical circuits or as the transmission medium in local and long haul optical communication systems.=leftOptical waveguides can be classified according to their geometry (planar, strip, or fiber waveguides), mode structure (single-mode, multi-mode), refractive index distribution (step or gradient index) and material (glass, polymer, semiconductor).

I have a 2018 P4S and have the Burmester (option was $5940 when I ordered late 2017 and received car May 2018) and the Illuminated Interior package ($860) with the multiple colors in front and back of car. Maybe they combined the two packages, as I am unsure why your radio is $1600 more than what I paid.

Unfortunately for my pocketbook, you are absolutely correct. I am by no means an audiophile, but having driven a Panamera as a loaner recently with the Bose system, it was a night and day difference in quality of sound and the way the sound surrounded you. The Bose was disappointing albeit I would never know had I not been subjected to the Burm for the last month.
