Default Porsche InnoDrive

Hi Guys,

I have a Panamera Sport Turismo E-Hybrid on order and the configuration is already more than full. Now after reading on a german forum I decided not to take the Porsche InnoDrive, since I am fine with the ACC.

Are there any personal opinions on the forum that strongly recommend it?

I have a friend with a MB S550 with essentially the same thing as Innodrive. He swears by the system. He says it drives the car better than he does. Now he is someone who doesn't care to drive and will gladly let someone else drive, including his wife.

The system is not for me, but we ordered a new Panamera 4 coming in January for my wife and I got the Innodrive system for her. I posted a thread asking about the operation of it, but no one responded. I have a feeling not many people order it.

I have PID in my 4 e-hybrid and have posted about it quite a few times.

ACC is great but cannot speak to Innodrive. I think you would be very happy with ACC only if there is another extra you are considering for the additional cost.

I have no more extras on my wish list, the Innodrive is/was my last additional cost. My dealer did´t answer today if it can be added to the build, which is going to be in december. I hope it is possible.

I opted for the ACC without Innodrive. I found the lane keep assist to be intrusive even at low speeds. If you are going to be in constant stop and go traffic that might change my mind. On the test drive I sat in atlanta traffic with the innodrive system on and it was glorious. A bit jerky at times if the car in front of you inches forward but glorious nonetheless. I miss it in traffic but every other situation I would have it off.

A note about the reading of the speed limits and adjusting in real time, that can be a bit unsettling if you're approaching a slowed car and the speed limit changes go to higher. The car will hurl itself before slamming on the brakes and you will pucker up a bit everytime it does it. Definitely my wife didn't like the car driving itself. I would turn it on during rush hour and have your significant other or parent in the car with you on a test drive. If you find yourself wanting to turn it off because they're getting annoyed with it that resentment will only grow and you will have wasted a couple grand on a feature you can only use by yourself. Cheers.

I just ordered a P4 and elected to go with ACC and not InnoDrive. I'm of the school of thought that the car should either fully drive itself or not... and I won't be convinced that a car can do that until at least several years after they have successfully been proven on the road. Currently ACC is about as far as I will go as it has been around for quite a while and I still have to pay full attention to the road with it.

Having said that, I can completely understand folks who would enjoy the benefits of such a system. I am also a grumpy old guy so that has to be factored in :-)

Thanks to Thorfun for those threads, I had read them previously but had forgotten them.

And thanks to DrWoa for the insights. I have a feeling it is going to be very interesting when we pick up the car!

I have ACC in my 911, and tried the InnoDrive in the loaner Panamera from my dealer. I certainly found the InnoDrive-system to be an upgrade, but not a world changer.

If you do a lot of monotonous highway driving, I would opt for it. If you don't, it's a wash imo. Nice to have, but not necessary. (I will be getting it in my car, since I've decided to pretty much just click every check box on the configurator)

The first thing you should do with InnoDrive is to disable the speed limit function though, that was annoying as poop.
